Date of birth of Mustafa I

edit

There appears to have been some edit warring over the date of birth of Mustafa I, currently indicated in the article as c. 1600/1601/ The Encyclopedia of the Ottoman Empire, p. 409, cited as a source in this article, says: "Mustafa I (b. ca. 1591–d. ca. 1639)". This requires some attention from someone with greater historical expertise on the subject. BD2412 T 18:15, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

the contemporary ambassadors referred to Prince Mustafa in the summer of 1603 as a toddler,Baki Tezcan in his book “The Debut of Kösem Sultans political career” debunks idea of Mustafa being born in 1591 Naşakara (talk) 13:41, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Naşakara But that's not a good excuse. I would prefer to restore the information that Mustafa I was born in 1591. IgnacyPL (talk) 07:18, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Women in Green's October 2024 edit-a-thon

edit

Hello WikiProject Turkey:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!

Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!

Articles without any cites at all

edit

Merhabalar,

As you probably know you can see a list of articles without any cites at all by clicking “A list of articles needing cleanup associated with this project” at the bottom right of the project page and then scrolling down and clicking “Cites no sources”. I think these uncited articles drag down the reputation of this project and maybe its other articles.

A few weeks ago there were over 300. I have cited a few and nominated many for deletion but, as you will be able to see after the weekly bot runs tomorrow, many remain. I have also redirected some of the uncited Dam articles to the list of dams.

Some other people such as @TheJoyfulTentmaker: and @Iffy: have also cited articles and saved them from deletion. If anyone could continue redirecting dams and cite any articles worth keeping that would be great. Particularly sports, music and films as I am not very interested in them.

Thanks for taking a constructive and collaborative approach to these issues. I have little knowledge of Turkey and Turkish sources so cannot help much here outside of the tennis area. Most articles have an intersection of topics with WikiProjects who have an interest in the subject matter, for cultural topics such as sports, music and film, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory/Culture for a list of groups who may be able to help. An editor has listed the article Boğaziçi for deletion. It would be great if someone from here(ideally from Istanbul) goes and checks if the article is notable enough for inclusion. TNM101 (chat) 15:44, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

It takes more than one person to make a project

edit

Is anyone else here apart from @TheJoyfulTentmaker? If not I will mark the project inactive and stop spending time asking questions here. Chidgk1 (talk) 10:09, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

What do you mean by "here"? I have the project on my watchlist and occasionally answer questions, but for instance I do not speak Turkish. Ymblanter (talk) 10:52, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm here yes, but I'm more interested in vital articles, or core articles of this project. Do not mark this project inactive. Bogazicili (talk) 14:41, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Merger discussion for Yüksek Hızlı Tren

edit

This is a different proposal to the above. I hope more people might comment. @Ymblanter: and any lurkers here - despite the title no Turkish is needed and indeed these trains are useful to many foreign tourists as well as important for helping the unity of the country in my opinion. @Bogazicili: although obvious less important than the Turkey article you are working hard on, I believe these trains will continually become more useful to the country, as roads fill up with traffic and flying internally between big Turkish cities becomes more expensive with carbon taxes. So it is important for people to properly understand them I think.
