Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/April 1, 2005

Hey, nice one, but why does the article reside in user namespace? -- Sundar 04:13, Mar 9, 2005 (UTC)

I changed it to Wikipedia:Sandbox so that the article is an actual April Fool's Day prank (which is the point of April Fool's Day), as opposed to a weak compromise. Do we really want to project the image that the most we're willing to do is post a mildly humorous, but actual, featured article? Sandbox is perfect because not only is it not featured (one of the criteria for being an April Fool's Day joke), but it is the least likely to ever become featured. Please reply here with comments, though I'm positive this will be reverted by my fellow Wiktators :)  BRIAN0918  21:38, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • Also, the Sandbox is not a fictitious article like the toilet paper holder one. -- BRIAN0918  21:50, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
  • From April Fool's Day: "The day is celebrated by the execution of hoaxes and practical jokes of varying sophistication with the goal of publicly embarrassing the gullible." Notice the wording. It doesn't say the day is marked by funny stuff. It's more specific. Note the usage of "hoaxes" and "practical jokes".  :)  BRIAN0918  21:55, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Let's just keep it with SNES. -- user:zanimum

Goomba, Goomba, Goomba!

edit

If the choice of NES is meant as a quirky April Fools' Day joke, it's one that way too many people won't ever realize has any humor to it. If you're going to go this direction and not do a real hoax, please, at least use Goomba instead. --Michael Snow 17:55, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)

NES? I don't get it.... -- BRIAN0918  00:32, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)
