My edits
editHello, I saw Wikipedia:Uphill battles mentioned here:
so I had a look, and I saw some things to add. In particular, I suspect a contributing factor in many Wikipedia disputes is a seeming lack of awareness that other wikis exist. So I called attention to that in a few spots. --Teratornis 18:21, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Majority is not necessarily usually right
editI don't think it's good to try to deter people from bucking the majority. Since when is the majority generally right? If it were, we could just base decisions on the majority, rather than having it be overridden by policies adopted by a broader consensus.
Sometimes the majority (or even the consensus) is wrong, and someone has to be the first to say, "You're wrong, and here's why." We should encourage people to do that, as long as they have read the arguments of the majority and determined that there is a reasonable basis for claiming their own view is correct. Is this page the antagonist of Bold Revert Discuss?
editThe way I set up WP:BRD was as a manual for dealing with 12 angry men. AKA: how to fight uphill battles, make friends, influence people, and -ultimately- win. (typically by leveling the terrain first, by taking on people 1-by-1 instead of all at once... Eh what? Cheating? Noooo, I would NEVER! O:-) Would I? }:-)> )
Sooo, I'm not so sure I like the recommendation for walking away. Perhaps some of the BRD content and this page could be merged instead... hmmm.... <considers> <scratches head>
