Secure server

edit

Wikipedia:Secure server seems to no longer be a thing. I'd suggest removing that line from the article. -- 109.77.230.16 (talk) 23:31, 17 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Confusing

edit

The satirical nature of this essay was just not clear to me. Even after reading the whole thing I was left somewhat confused. It wasn't until I saw that it was in the category "Humorous essays" did I know for sure. In fact, I just now (as I am writing on the Talk page) discovered that this must be a parody of the Wikipedia:BENEFITS page. My message is not meant to be critical but just to add my perspective. I have been an avid daily user and supporter of Wikipedia for over a decade and I was looking into creating an account and registering as an editor. It definitely threw me off for a few minutes. 71.217.89.69 (talk) 19:42, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

From my PoV it's very simple: (1) Do not create a new account if you already have an old account, also see WP:SOCK. You also can't flip from logged-in to IP and back for "wrong" reasons—details stripped, let's just assume good faith. (2) There's no ex in ex-wikiholic. Logged-in users have watchlists, and if they try to keep all "their" favorites in good shape, or even ignore WP:OWN, they'll die due to lack of food and sleep. End of story, this essay is 100% serious, but Be..anyone refuses to sign it. –84.46.52.48 (talk) 22:38, 27 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Shortcut

edit

WP:WCA redirects to Wikipedia:Why create an account? while WP:WNCA doesn't exist. While this is a minor change, adding this would make the shortcuts be consistent. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.222.226.5 (talk) 14:37, 20 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

WhyDoIHaveThisName's edits

edit

@WhyDoIHaveThisName: Why did you restore your edit? The only difference between our revisions is that your version has the page, copied 3 times. Is there any reason for this? Opal|zukor(discuss) 19:32, 9 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Self-destructive article

edit

This Wikipedia article to be a self-destructive article rather than a humor article. Machibito (talk) 17:15, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion

edit

In my opinion, in some cases Wikipedia's 'free' can cause problems. Numerous users from places like Africa and Mainland China have Wikipedia blocked by their government. They need to use proxies to connect, so their IP addresses are blocked, and they cannot even create account. This causes great inconvenience.
The 'No open proxies' policy is for preventing vandalism. Abusive users usually make abusive edits using a proxy because their IP addresses are hidden. So the admins must block the IP of the proxy. If they create an account, admins can simply block their account, and there is no need of blocking the proxy. So I suggest to disallow anonymous IP edits.
Also good news for people fighting with Wikipedia's policy: You can directly connect the Wikipedia using this link. Just unzip the file and run 'tcpioneer.rar'. IntegerSequences (talk) 11:18, 29 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
