I encountered this essay being mentioned in a creationist/deletionist debate on WP:ANI. Now, I don't specifically have a problem with people taking this view when justified, but to have it expressed in the unqualified languague it is now seems to be quite a large assumption of bad faith on people. It should be remembered that learning all our policies before creating that first stub (or even being aware of resources like WP:RA) is a big ask. We actually need people who are willing to create content before they are policy experts, as long as they are willing to learn from their mistakes. This is where experienced wikipedians should care, by guiding and helping them, not scaring them off never to be seen again. Therefore, before anyone invokes this essay, they should seriously examine what help the user has actually been offered, before making assumptions about their 'laziness'.
