Add to article
editThe following need to be moved to the main article after proper formatting.
- Catostylus mosaicus (Blue Blubber Jellyfish):
(Animalia> Cnidaria > Scyphozoa > Rhizostomeae > Catostylidae > Catostylus > Catostylus mosaicus) 98.112.63.187 (talk) 23:27, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Hybrid Dog Breeds
editCould we please add a page to Wikipedia regarding the Hybrid Dog Breeds that are making their debuts ( at least here in the United States)?Bullymom (talk) 19:12, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hellow Bullymom, and thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.
- The problem seems to have been that the article you are looking for is, titled "Hybrid dog". There is absolutely nothing grammatically wrong with calling them or thinking of them as Hybrid Dogs, so you are owed an apology for the fact that your search for "Hybrid Dog" led you nowhere.
- It difficult to find that article. Dog Hybrid, dog hybrid, Dog hybrid, Hybrid dog, hybrid dog, Hybrid Dog, about half of those links were red when I first previewed this post. I am now going through and turning them all from red to blue by redirecting each to Dog hybrid. This is tiresome and therefore often goes undone. Is there no easier way? Does the search engine have to be case sensitive to capitalization? Can't the machine be recognize that a person who searches for Dog Hybrid most likely wants the article Dog hybrid?
- Also, how do I tell it to send people to who search for Hybrid dogs to the article Hybrid dog without having to correct a redirect every time? Chrisrus (talk) 04:56, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Tables
editI say we get rid of these tables - they are difficult for inexperienced users to use and so may put people off from making requests. It's easier just to make a red link and add anything else that might be relevant, e.g. common name or sources. Richard001 (talk) 21:26, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
"Yes" vote & formatting of page needs fixing
editI agree; formatting of the "Species and genera" page is currently screwed up (a single closing curly brace is now displayed on the line after the title--I don't know how to fix it, will leave it to someone else, but this particular matter needs attention). SIMPLER IS BETTER. philiptdotcom (talk) 23:41, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
I may have fixed the problem
editSeems like there was an extranous "new cell" designation after the last entry in the table.... but someone who knows what they're doing should double-check this. Thanks! philiptdotcom (talk) 23:44, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Broken again
editIt appears to be broken again... The page makes so much more sense now I know it's not supposed to look like that. --Beeurd (talk) 02:34, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Argghh
editYou guys are right. I feel exactly the same way. I hate the tables. How can we make this page easier to use? I just tried and gave up. Chrisrus (talk) 05:04, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Agreed.
editIf it weren't for Chrisrus above me, I probably would have commented the exact same thing. So what can we do? Bc4444 (talk) 13:33, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
Interspecies adoption article request
editThe main page suggested I put the request here. Seems like a subject that would be of general interest--Mongreilf (talk) 15:50, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. Interspecific Adoption is a tiny subsection of the African Wild Dog article by this name, but Interspecies Adoption is a much easier title to understand. There have been several notable incidents that come to mind: the ducks and songbirds who react to the gaping maws of orinimental carp by feeding them; the famous case of the lioness that famously adopted the gazzelle fawn; and so on. Is there an article about this topic, and if so what is it called? Chrisrus (talk) 05:24, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Completed requests moved
editI have removed articles which have been created from this page. Those which require additional expansion (more or less all of them) have been relisted at Wikipedia:WikiProject Animals/Expansion requests. Intelligentsium 00:18, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
New York Species of Frogs
editI'm new to Wikipedia editing, but I don't see why we can't have a simple page with only links to other pages.
When one searches "New York Frogs", it comes up with a government website. We all know the quality of government websites. Horrible charts, and no pictures. So, why don't we compile links of all the different frog pages of frogs that live in New York, and put them on one page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.89.151.188 (talk) 20:54, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
Cardiidae and Phengodidae families' genera and species
editA lot of genera in the family Cardiidae are missing. Out of the 28 listed, 13 are redlinks. A number of other articles mention the genera and their respective species. For example, on the Baltic Sea article (which is, while we're on the topic, full of redlinks), under the Biology section, it reads, "Since the Baltic Sea is so young there are only a few endemic species, such as the small cockle Parvicardium hauniense..." Also, the list of genera on the Phengodidae family page shows 35 genera. All but one of those are redlinks. Can something be done about this (meaning the necessary articles/redirects be created and the redlinks fixed)? Thanks!
New Member having trouble appropriate page to make suggestion for new article
editI am new member and I want to suggest new article: "Identification of Cats by Species with Images". I would appreciate reply to this suggestion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CherokeeElderWalker (talk • contribs) 14:53, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Yawunik kootenayi
editNot sure where to request this, so am trying here. The newly discovered (and quite interesting) species Yawunik kootenayi needs an article. There are plenty of good sources (Aria, C. D.; Caron, J. B.; Gaines, R. (2015). "A large new leanchoiliid from the Burgess Shale and the influence of inapplicable states on stem arthropod phylogeny". Palaeontology: n/a. doi:10.1111/pala.12161., et cetera} —Thank you for your attention on this matter, ~Eric, aka:71.20.250.51 (talk) 15:47, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Most species listed already have articles?
editIs it just me or do most of the species listed by scientific name already have articles under their common names, and just need the scientific names redirected? FunkMonk (talk) 16:05, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
