Is there a war on Wikipedia
Israel Lobby Watch EI exclusive a pro-Israel group's plan to rewrite history on Wikipedia The Electronic Intifada, 21 April 2008
A pro-Israel pressure group is orchestrating a secret, long-term campaign to infiltrate the popular online encyclopedia Wikipedia to rewrite Palestinian history, pass off crude propaganda as fact, and take over Wikipedia administrative structures to ensure these changes go either undetected or unchallenged. A series of emails by members and associates of the pro-Israel group CAMERA (Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America), provided to The Electronic Intifada (EI), indicate the group is engaged in what one activist termed a "war" on Wikipedia.
"We will go to war"
Zeq, however, counsels CAMERA operatives to be patient and lie low until they build up their strength. "We will go to war after we have build our army, equiped it trained [sic]," he wrote on 9 April. "So please if you want to win this war help us build ou[r] army. let's not just rush in and achieve nothing, or abit more than nothing [sic]."

I didn't make a research on this issue yet so I am not sure how serious the act is, or how well organised, but you may concern for these acts more than I do. Kasaalan (talk) 14:21, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Nonviolence project...
For those of you who are interested, I am putting together a Nonviolence project. Although there may be some overlap with the Anti-war project, the Nonviolence project will have a different scope. I mean in no way to detract from or complete with the Anti-war project. If you are interested in helping out, chime in at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Nonviolence. Thanks, and keep up the great work. Kingturtle (talk) 14:22, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Apologies for the notice, but this is being posted to every WikiProject to avoid accusations of systemic bias. Hiding T 13:25, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

GA Sweeps invitation
This message is being sent to WikiProjects with GAs under their scope. Since August 2007, WikiProject Good Articles has been participating in GA sweeps. The process helps to ensure that articles that have passed a nomination before that date meet the GA criteria. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. Instead of reviewing by topic, editors can consider picking and choosing whichever articles they are interested in.
We are always looking for new members to assist with reviewing the remaining articles, and since this project has GAs under its scope, it would be beneficial if any of its members could review a few articles (perhaps your project's articles). Your project's members are likely to be more knowledgeable about your topic GAs then an outside reviewer. As a result, reviewing your project's articles would improve the quality of the review in ensuring that the article meets your project's concerns on sourcing, content, and guidelines. However, members can also review any other article in the worklist to ensure it meets the GA criteria.
If any members are interested, please visit the GA sweeps page for further details and instructions in initiating a review. If you'd like to join the process, please add your name to the running total page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles from the worklist or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. With ~1,300 articles left to review, we would appreciate any editors that could contribute in helping to uphold the quality of GAs. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Campaign Against Sanctions and Military Intervention in Iran alleged to have insufficient third party reliable sources - deletion threat
Campaign Against Sanctions and Military Intervention in Iran has been tagged as having insufficient third party reliable sources. Several reliable sources have been added, but someone on the talk page doesn't seem convinced, and doesn't seem to understand the bias that pro-war "reliable sources" are understandably going to avoid reporting on an anti-war organisation. i suspect that this might be something that would need to be added to the page WP:BIAS - it's not just people/topics in poor countries who suffer bias in the english language wikipedia due to the documented bias in the demographic profile of en.wikipedians, but topics that have different biases to those of the mainstream media are necessarily going to be underreported - e.g. opposition to wars promoted by those media's governments.
Anyway, only sensible discussion on the Talk:Campaign Against Sanctions and Military Intervention in Iran page is going to help here. Boud (talk) 00:14, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Non-notability threats potentially becoming deletion requests
i've started a section "Non-notability threats potentially becoming deletion requests" - we have to see in practice whether this is going to become a serious systematic bias problem. i've also started a section just below that on pages that have been deleted, with links to their deletion discussion. i suspect that we may have to create a specific page like WP:GROUP for notability guidelines for anti-war organisations. By their nature, anti-war groups are generally going to be underreported by the mainstream media, which are generally pro-war in most countries. Boud (talk) 23:38, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
The Politics of Jesus
Any thoughts on adding an article for The Politics of Jesus by John Howard Yoder? I think it would be a valuable addition, but do know enough about the text to create the article. Surv1v4l1st (Talk|Contribs) 01:30, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Stop the War Coalition GA Sweeps: On Hold
I have reviewed Stop the War Coalition for GA Sweeps to determine if it still qualifies as a Good Article. In reviewing the article I have found several issues, which I have detailed here. Since the article falls under the scope of this project, I figured you would be interested in contributing to further improve the article. Please comment there to help the article maintain its GA status. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing! Preventing School Violence
I created an article last spring about Preventing School violence. This was targeted for deletion and the result was a merge and a virtual deletion. I am considering bringing this subject back up since I think there can be a lot more done about violence prevention. I have kept a suggested article on a user subpage and I think the decision should be reversed. If there is anyone who is interested in helping with this please let me know or post something on the article talk page. I'll probably start a RfC within a week.

United States and state terrorism
I am having trouble with several editors over at United States and state terrorism who are trying to delete the article based on their political views, rather than as a result of Wikipedia policy violations. The article has been nominated for deletion 8 times, and has come up as "Keep" or "Speedy Keep" every single time. The consensus of the community is clearly that the article needs to be improved, rather than deleted, but this same type of ideologically motivated, patriotic editor come in pushing ideology, and are not willing to have a discussion on how to improve the article -- they just want to get rid of it because it doesn't mesh with their belief system. They are arguing about what they think about state terrorism (that anyone who claims that the U.S. has every sponsored terrorist acts is a biased POV pushing propagandist) rather than arguing what Wikipedia policy says about it (i.e. that if numerous reliable sources claim that an act is a state terrorist act committed by the United States, then it is fine to put it in United States and state terrorism).
I figured that since many of you here have probably done a good bit of research on this subject area (i.e. U.S. foreign policy, military history, etc.) that perhaps someone could come and give some balance to the conversation? Thanks, Jrtayloriv (talk) 23:04, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
Removing (AfD) antiwar groups' articles
This is a discussion about removal of one despite a number of WP:RS about its various activities, not all of which are currently in the article. Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/DC_Anti-War_Network. While in this case it is AfD'd by its original author (I did a lot of work on it after that), in other cases it could just be people who don't like antiwaro groups. And I can think of a lot of groups who have far fewer WP:RS than this article that easily could be removed on these grounds. Thoughts in general or specific. What - No Stub Cat???
I was editing the stub article about Chicago 8 activist John Froines, and discovered, to my astonishment, that there is no stub category for Anti-war articles. I am sure there must be hundreds -- if not thousands -- of stub-articles for such a stub category. Anybody want to help me round up enough stubs (approx. 100) to submit a request to create the stub cat? (There may even be enough for a sub-cat for anti-war activists.) What are people working on?
Just to "liven up" this project a little. It would be nice if it was inactive because there weren't any wars. Obviously the necons and Israel Lobby still pushing for war on Iran and inevitably they will get it. I haven't worked on the relevant article in more than a year and would have to search my contributions to even remember exactly what it is called. I keep getting drawn into articles that seem to me to use Wikipedia to bash Palestinians and/or Muslims as a propaganda effort to excuse bombing them in Iran and anywhere else needed. Or that bash critics of US/Israeli wars of aggression. I'm wondering how many anti-war group articles have been deleted in year or so since my local groups' article was deleted despite more WP:RS than a lot of articles on less notable efforts that still exist. Well, just a couple comments looking for signs of life out there. CarolMooreDC 13:20, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I always find it difficult to work on pure anti-war topics, since WP:RS rules tend to exclude sources that treat such topics decently and accurately. One of those strange things: murder is regarded as the worst crime at the individual level, yet when carried out on a mass scale it becomes respectable, even lauded. On Wikipedia we have many, many articles on "war porn", the tools, instruments and technology of mass murder, most of them well-cared for and lovingly maintained, yet when it comes to making peace, or exposing the lies that lead to war, difficulties abound - sigh. --NSH001 (talk) 17:23, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
