Australian Pubs

There is an article called Australian Pubs which is not part of this project. I do not have the time to add it (i've g2g) - could someone else add it? talk to symode09's or Spread the love! 04:47, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

80s Rock Bands...

I made an article for The Venetians the toher day which someone has listed for deletion. Now there is scarce amount on the internet for a band which had a few moderate hits and achieved national airplay at the time..To me it easiliy meets criteria for notability but I don't have any sources handy. Anyone have any old 80s mags or an encyclopedia of rock?? cheers, Casliber | talk | contribs 22:58, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

PS: I made a stub for the Allniters too...cheers, Casliber | talk | contribs

Bilateral relations discussion

I would like to invite you all to participate in a discussion at this thread regarding bilateral relations between two countries. All articles related to foreign relations between countries are now under the scope of WikiProject Foreign relations, a newly created project. We hope that the discussion will result in a more clean and organized way of explaining such relationships. Thank you. Ed Cmo ests? 18:56, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Qxz-ads

Hello, me and User: VirtualSteve were wondering if it would be a good idea if we placed an ad in qxz-ads. Please respond to me, not on this page. Thanks Harrison-HB4026 00:47, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Student union articles

By chance, I've run across some Australian student union articles, and there seems to be a large quantity of them which cover very local-interest groups, without any references or confirmation of notability. Can someone in this WikiProject please take a look, and see if there are some references available to justify these articles? If not, I recommend they be merged into a single list, or that the information simply be deleted. For a quick summary, see {{NUS}}. Thanks, Elonka 21:51, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

As a heads-up, I'm going to be going through some of the student organisation articles, and doing some cleanup which will probably involve nominating some of them for deletion. Please rest assured that I'm not intending to nominate all of them for deletion, but simply those that seem to provide no references or affirmation of notability per WP:CORP. For example: Students' Association of the University of Adelaide. I'm also thinking that some of these no-reference articles might be good to merge to a Wikia, such as at the Australia Wikia. Anyway, FYI, --Elonka 21:04, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
How about you leave them to the Australian users who know whether they're notable or not, rather than relying on your suspicions of non-notability, or perhaps do some research yourself on the organisations? JRG 06:07, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Australia 21

Read the Australia 21 article it reads like propaganda using phrases like for our grand childrenSquall1991 10:17, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

I haven't found where the word "grandchildren" comes from yet, but the article is basically a copyright violation. The introduction comes from the Australia 21 brochure. The section under "Activities" is lifted from http://australia21.org.au with the only differences being changing "us" and "we" to "it". The "four thematic programs" are also lifted word-for-word from the website, but I haven't found the sub points yet. Oh yeah, found them. They come from the website as well. I've deleted it as a copyvio. Sarah 01:24, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

non-nuclear households - Katoomba

I was browsing through the category tree and found a couple of curious cats. For example in Category:Underpopulated Australia categories:

Cleanup of Category:Companies of Australia

As an FYI, I have decided to commence a major cleanup of articles that have been allocated to Category:Companies of Australia. I will be dealing with all articles categorised to the root level, stubbing, adding the companies infobox, and nominating for AfD where necessary. If you've got any questions, drop them here or on my talk page. Thewinchester (talk) 10:15, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Category:Australian terrorists

Hi, I think there needs to be some discussion about whether this category is appropriate considering the subjectiveness of the subject matter. Thanks, WikiTownsvillian 03:26, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

I've removed several articles from the category, as the subjects were still under trial or weren't charged or convicted, as per WP:BIO. I think your criticism stands and we need to consider whether the cat. should remain. And what about Category:Terrorism in Australia? Probably more legitimate, but perhaps we should consider that too. Recurring dreams 03:52, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
I think Category:Terrorism in Australia is a much better category, because it removes the idea that we are classifying people as "terrorists", and instead only refers to actual acts of terrorism (which are much more easily defined). Still ambiguous, but not as much. ~ G1ggy! SPEAK! 04:09, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
I agree, surely any article which qualifies for Category:Australian terrorists could just go into the Category:Terrorism in Australia category. Does there need to be this subcat? WikiTownsvillian 04:13, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
No, there doesn't need to be a subcat IMO. Does anyone want to do the merge/delete? ~ G1ggy! SPEAK! 04:33, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
The terrorists cat is now empty, and can be speedied in 4 days if it stays empty. --Steve (Stephen) talk 04:44, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Now it's empty, there were two articles that had to be moved. It can now be speedied. ~ G1ggy! ...chatterbox... 09:21, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Just to continue, in the Category:Terrorism in Australia page, there are some questionable inclusions. The Battle of Broken Hill (for which there are two pages, redirect needed), seems to have some OR; Henry James O'Farrell (assassination, not terrorism); Douglas Wood (Australian captured by "terrorists," (insurgents?), but not in Australia). Recurring dreams 05:05, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
<--- That's the issue with these type of categories, is that they become broad and contain both positive and negative entries about the topic. I recall a similar discussion around a racism category that contained both racists and anti-racists. I don't have the answers though. --Steve (Stephen) talk 05:17, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
The result of the discussion on deletion of the Category:Terrorists by nationality was to keep it .here .I do not see any issue .Shyamsunder .17:43, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
I don't see any mention of Australian terrorists in that CfD? --Steve (Stephen) talk 05:48, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
The decision should be applying to all similar categories .If Category: American terrorists and 30 other similarly named categories are acceptable why Category: Australian terrorists is not --Shyamsunder .20:57, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
As I've said many times before in relation to other crime-based categories, it's fine to have categories like Category:Convicted Australian terrorists and so on, but this sort of naming is absolutely ridiculous. --bainer (talk) 06:05, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Australian Arts & Literature

I can't seem to find any specifc Australian arts & literature focus here, which is a big omission. I am wondering what people think about setting the category up as a new WikiProject. I think that it is a large enough area to have it's own project, which could then be divided up into task forces for different categories, such as film, theatre, novels etc etc. I think this would make the the subject area more accessible and make the work load seem more manageable. What does everyone think? baby_ifritah 00:06, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Now looking through all the categories i think all this is possibly too big for one wikiproject, and it might be better to divide them up into separate projects such as Australian film, visual arts, literature etc all of which would have subject parentage, as well as the geographic parentage. My specific area of interest is literature, so the actual project i would like to start up would be WikiProject Australian literature with taskforces such as:

Australian Poetry (+ parent WP Poetry)
Australian Novels (+ parent WP Novels)
Australian Writers (+ parent WP Biography + sister Writers & critics work group

I'm going to start working up a proposal for the WikiProject Council but thoughts on the idea welcome, and if anyone else is interested in working on it please let me know, either here or at my talk page. baby_ifritah 02:02, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

If you look very carefully -to see how projects can be created - Wikipedia:WikiProject Northern Territory started this week - Considering the labour of love of a very few editors to sustain Oz lit in the last year or so - I would recommend against taskforces and just one project is enough really - too ambitious and you wont get any help - theres limited as there is - scale down the ambitions and the projecct is more likely to survive - just my fifty cents. copied from Grahamec's userpage

I'm thinking of making an Australian Barnstar. It is needed I think. I will try to come up with designs. Please state ideas and comments. Cheers. Chicken7 01:22, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

How about something similar to {{The Current Events Barnstar}} - the star, but with an Australian flag on it (instead of what seems to be a UN logo there). Since the Australian flag is a commons file, you're allowed to use it in a barnstar. G1ggy! 01:39, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
I was thinking something like that aswell. I was also thinking some thing like the Indonesia Barnstar but with different colours and flag. Chicken7 01:42, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
If anyone is particularly skilful, I seven-pointed barnstar – alluding to the Commonwealth Star – would be nice.--cj | talk 01:50, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
That would be nice. I will have a go. Thanks for the excellent ideas. Keep them coming. Chicken7 01:57, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Problem. I made the barnstar on Microsoft Paint and it's turned into a BMP image. Wikipedia doesn't accept BMP. I've done it with the Bulleen Plaza logo before but I forgot how to transfer it. Any ideas. Chicken7 02:23, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

I got it. Thats a very rough copy. Im going to Put a australian flag in middle and southern cross maybe. Ideas? Chicken7 02:30, 20 May 2007 (UTC) OMG. There's no Com Star! I fix Chicken7 03:26, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

I quite like the current draft. God I'm naive =P Unless you want to improve the quality, I think it's ok. G1ggy! 23:22, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

I might do that CJ. Thanks. Chicken7 04:21, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
It seems there is already an image, at Image:BoNM_-_Australia.png. It has not been turned into a fully fledged barnstar yet, but I'm sure it wouldn't be to hard to do. In fact, I'm going to be bold and do it now. G1ggy! 23:20, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Update {{subst:The Australian Barnstar of National Merit}} has been created, and added to the infopage here. G1ggy! 23:27, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Organic semiconductors, an Australian invention?

Others got the credit and the 2000 Nobel prize. However, over a decade before, the first high conductivity organic polymers had been reported by an Australian group. In fact, the Noble winner's work was essentially a reprise of the Auzzies'. See Organic semiconductor.19:42, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Powderfinger?

Is Powderfinger really important enough to have its own sub-project? I know they're a good band, but.... Synique 03:14, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Probably not. The combined total of articles within the Powderfinger category structure is a mere 35. This falls far short of our smallest active WikiProjects. The project also appears to be using the category tree referred to above as a media gallery, possibly violating fair usage. I've dropped a note to the projects talk page, pointing them here for discussion. -- Longhair\talk 03:45, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Also see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Council#Re:_Wikipedia:WikiProject_Powderfinger -- Longhair\talk 03:50, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
It's been suggested by numerous editors that it be upmerged into a WikiProject Australian music. That suggestion has merit, I think, so maybe we put more consideration into it.--cj | talk 03:53, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
You're welcome to also create an Australian Music project; it would have my full support. However, since the council was happy with it, and haven't taken any action on it, I don't think action in closing this project should be taken (unless, as said by the project, it flops...which is not something new for wikiprojects). G1ggy! Review me! 04:14, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
It's not about closing the project, but rather re-establishing it (as a taskforce, say) in a context and structure (Australian music) that is more useful to the encyclopædia.--cj | talk 05:28, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
How would it be more useful to the encyclopedia in a different context, when it is, in essence, the exact same thing? G1ggy! Review me! 03:41, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Because it's a more streamlined effort; less time is spent on meta maintenance, and more on improving articles.--cj | talk 03:57, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Sandbox

I noticed this Sandbox User:ACBest/TempSandbox appearing in all of the Australian Projects, should this be really placed this way, as its showing up in all the Categories ? Boylo 02:35, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

That is odd. I think it should be removed from the categories. This can be done by adding |categories=no to each of the templates. G1ggy Talk/Contribs 02:49, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Seems he does templates for WikiProjects User:ACBest/Sandbox, but the admins really need to decide if editors should be allowed to do this, as its sure messes up the Categories with incorrect links. If everyone done this it would create havoc in the end and could become a form of vandalism to Project Categories. Thats why i mentioned it here. Boylo 02:15, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

I've done the same myself while fiddling with the WP Australia template. This particular page has been active now for 5 days. Leaving it as is only populates useful categories with unwanted junk.
As the template hasn't had any custom changes made to it in the users sandbox, it's something he can easily recreate if needed again. I'll delete the offending page and leave an explanation at their talk page as to why. -- Longhair\talk 06:11, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Additionally, you may want to explain what potch is...it redirects to opal, which is fine, but is it explained in the article? (I'm taking those words from Oyster which I read a few days ago, and for which I created the page.)Zigzig20s 22:08, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
This simply defines Potch as "to push" or "to thrust" with no other details, but has "buy opals" adverts around it. It's starting to look like there should be an article about Opal mining in Australia which rounds up these terms, and adds in social history, economics and criticism of this industry. Totnesmartin 22:23, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
I concur. BTW I've created this [2] (from what I could gather from the novel). I still think an article on opal-mining would be good - apparently it is an important side to Australian culture.Zigzig20s 22:42, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Location map Australia

I've just made a pushpin map for Australian locations. So if you give the co-ordinates, a location map will be generated, so separate static images for each location are not needed. For example:

Sydney: using co-ordinates on article...

...and the static image.

The parameters are probably not yet spot-on, so if you want to tweak them, go to {{Location map Australia}}. Once this is running properly, it could possibly be then used for the location infobox - or anything else for that matter. - 52 Pickup 17:58, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Database dumps now available on BP Files

Great news for editors who want a local copy of the wiki database, but have problems downloading through Bigpond due to limited plans. Bigpond Files now have copies of the August dumps, and are an "Unmetered" download for Bigpond DSL and Cable customers. See Bigpond Files site for details. These August dumps are set to expire off BP Files early November.

Northbridge, New South Wales

Some of the information in Northbridge, New South Wales looks less than the best to me. For instance, Amazon doesn't seem to have heard of William Berkman, despite him writing at least three books (and founding a church). Could a local cast an eye over the article? Mr Stephen 11:59, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

We can probably afford to lose the detailed description of the local Woolies. ;) FiggyBee 13:14, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
The Berkman stuff, at least, seems to be nonsense. The National Library hasn't heard of any of the supposed books either. Rebecca 23:51, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Placing the image within that circle in the centre is reminiscent of the RAAF roundel. Maybe something along those lines might make it clearer that it is an Australian award? - 52 Pickup 11:23, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Category:Australian engineers

What definition of engineer is being used for this category please? Does the category distinguish between a professional engineer and a mechanic for example? If not, should the category be changed to "Australian professional engineers", or is it accepted that "engineer"=="professional engineer"? The common definition of a professional engineer is someone who is eligible for membership of the The Institution of Engineers Australia. John Dalton 01:30, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Looking higher up the category tree is Category:Engineers which "categorises articles related to the occupation of engineer". Its parent category is Category:Engineering which gives the definition: "Engineering is the practical application of science. This is accomplished through knowledge, mathematics, and practical experience applied to the design of useful objects or processes. Professional practitioners of engineering are called engineers." --Melburnian 06:32, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Query on possible article

I'm about to make my first trip to Australia. I'll spend some time at the Reef Casino in Cairns. We have articles on the Star City Casino and the Crown Casino, which are certainly bigger and more important. Your opinions are solicited -- is the Reef Casino notable enough that I should try to start an article about it? JamesMLane t c 02:53, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

At a glance [5], I'd say no - it doesn't really seem to have any external sources that assert notability. But if you can find something, then go for it! Giggy Talk | Review 03:52, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Looking at google news hits, [6], I think it would be possible, if only because of the financial machinations of Australia's rather concentrated gambling industry. Recurring dreams 07:32, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Now back in the Northern Hemisphere, I can report that the Reef Casino is smaller, in physical size and in the size of the typical bet, than I'd expected. It's definitely nowhere near the level of Star City or Crown. I'm therefore inclined to agree with Giggy that we don't need an article. Recurring dreams's suggestion of an article about "the financial machinations" of the industry would be a good idea, but as a casual visitor, I don't feel qualified to take it on. (Unrelated to Wikipedia: I had a great time Down Under, partly because the Aussies I met were so uniformly friendly and helpful. Good on ya, mates!) JamesMLane t c 08:59, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Scrub Monkey

Please have a look at the article Scrub Monkey. Is it a hoax, or is there actually some Australian legend about the "Scrub Monkey"? I checked every resource available to me but could not find any relevant information. The fact that a few of the contributors to the article are known vandals makes me even more suspicious that this is a hoax. I am thinking of prodding this; thought of dropping a note here before I do that. utcursch | talk 06:17, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Dealing with Proposed Deletions (WP:PROD)

Initially I had added a Proposed Deletions section to Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Australia. This addition was removed by Thewinchester with the edit summary:

(→Deletion nominations via WP:PROD - rem unnecessary section, also is messing with Christ G Bot that updates the deletions lists on WP:AWNB)

After this, I went to this page to add WP:PROD notifications. As you can see above, I was subsequently told that I should take these to WP:AWNB. I went to that page and looked at the code and noted that every section is bot-filled ... and that a primary source of material for the bot is Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Australia, the page I started at and I was told not to add information to. There are two related questions here:

  1. Are you interested in knowing about articles that have been proposed for deletion via the WP:PROD workstream?
  2. If you are, where should such notifications - or what notification collection method - would fit best into this WikiProject's business-as-usual?

Thank you for the input. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 00:49, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Geobox

Hi, I'm no particularly involved with anything Australian, I'm just the major creator of the {{Geobox}} template, a template for all geography-related features. Among its many functions there's an automated locator dot placement based on coordinates - if there exists a calibrated map the template places a locator dot automaticaly. And that's how I got here, I'm creating these calibration templates for other countries and regions as well and somehow I stumbled upon Australia, so here you are here, I've tried one on Uluru. The {{Geobox}} template can be used for towns, cities, mountains, lakes … whatever you like.

The map shown at Uluru consists of two parts, a background map and an svg overlay (the states' and territories' boundaries). Of course, only the former could be used or the former with boundaries included in it. This system is useful for placing overlays of mountain ranges, national parks. See e.g. Greater Fatra and Veľká Fatra National Park which share the same backgound map but the overlays are different.

A couple of data that were scattered throughout the page can be included in the Geobox as well. E.g. the Geolinks template didn't do anything different to what's achived by the coordinates_type field in the template. Of course, should you not like the Geobox, get rid of it, this is just to let you know it exists. – Caroig (talk) 13:50, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Vodafone Australia

I'd like to make a request for someone to start an article for Vodafone Australia. Surprisingly, no article currently exists for this company. Most Australia-related articles link to either the parent company, Vodafone (based in the UK), or simply link to a non-existant article. Most countries with their own "Vodafone" partner or subsidiary company have their own article (e.g., Vodafone New Zealand), with information relevant to that country. I didn't feel up to the job of creating the article myself, after having seen the articles for Telstra, Optus and Virgin Mobile Australia, so I decided to make a request here. Cheers. – Liveste 05:14, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I had a go at creating the article. Right now it's a stub and it needs a LOT of work. I've listed it at WP:ACOTF (see article nomination), and would like to ask for support for a collaborative expansion effort on this article. Cheers. – Liveste 13:14, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Project tagging and assessments

Hello. Just wanted to give you a heads-up that as part of an assessment drive for WikiProject Ships, I recently tagged all of the RAN ship disambiguation pages with the {{WikiProject Ships}}, {{WPMILHIST}}, and {{WP Australia}} project banners. As per the instructions at WikiProject Australia/Assessment, I marked each of these pages as having both a class and importance of NA and also tagged each one for the maritime history and military task forces. Please let me know if you have any questions or issues. Thanks, Kralizec! (talk) 00:37, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Western Australia infoboxes help please

Hi, I hope someone can help me in the name of disambiguation link repair. There are a number of Western Australia articles which link to Wa, which is a disambiguation page, the links seem to be coming from infoboxes on the articles, and I don't know enough about how the templates work to fix the links! I think the problem is that the parameter "wa" is used for Western Australia. Is there anybody here who could fix them please? It would be very much appreciated. DuncanHill 13:01, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

I'll have it looked into. I can immediately see *what* the problem is, but not where or why it is occurring, and it is a bug. Orderinchaos 03:54, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, very much appreciated :) DuncanHill 12:52, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
For some reason a hidden, non-visible link is being created to a lower-case version of the state abbreviation. I know where that is getting input (the {{{state}}} field). Someone with a bit more skill than me in template maintenance will probably be able to find the issue. It's also creating links to nsw. Orderinchaos 13:01, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Project bot work

A while back we discussed ways we can improve the project and template to make it easier to get things done. I've submitted a request for a bot to total the article counts within the maintenance categories we use here and to output the results to a table. I suspect the table would function similar to the many others in use in allowing us to track backlogs at a glance. The result for now is below...

Category Count
Category:Underpopulated Australia categories (category count) 119
Category:Underpopulated (Year) in Australia categories (category count) 39
Category:Australia articles needing attention 76
Category:Australia articles needing expert attention 5
Category:Automatically assessed Australia articles 1531
Category:Australia articles needing infoboxes 19
Category:Australia-centric 5
Category:Australia stubs 19424
Category:Australia collaboration candidates 4
Category:Requests for Australia peer review 20

Have I missed any important categories or has anything else been overlooked? Your input at this stage is most welcome. -- Longhair\talk 00:29, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Subsidiary projects - could they be incorporated somehow - as to their status? SatuSuro 03:07, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Australia please and sub cats for states maybe? Gnangarra 10:25, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Both good ideas. I think we only require counts for unassessed articles for subprojects. The photo requests is something that I overlooked. Good one. - Longhair\talk 10:28, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Category:Australia stubs || 803 gives a false sense of satisfaction while there are 26 subcategories of it, some of those with further subcats. Perhaps we need a separate stub counting table, with a link from the main table instead of the 803 (listing all the stub cats would overpower this summary). --Scott Davis Talk 23:41, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
I believe that sub categories need to be brought in as well somehow, if at all possible SatuSuro 23:51, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

It covers the concerns here - looks good! Hope it sails well/break a leg/ may all who sail etc SatuSuro 23:46, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

I updated the figures. I used the Category (recursive) feature of AWB for the stubs and removed all templates, categories and duplicates. Orderinchaos 16:24, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

These now appear to be working... and are being maintained by User:Erwin85Bot.

or Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/BotStatistics for them all transcluded onto one page. There's currently a lag on response from the toolserver I'm told, so the bot isn't updating the tables as frequently as one would like, but that will hopefully improve. Still working on the stubs... -- Longhair\talk 01:06, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Assessment subpages

The Requests and Disputes sections are all but abandoned at the present time. No new requests have been lodged there for months, and similarly, those that have been lodged in 2007 have remained unattended to. What should we do regarding this? Given the amount of assessment going on, it doesn't seem to be a problem at all and definitely does not reflect a lack of attention to assessment, but maybe the current situation is a sign that we need to retire these pages so that newer users don't get confused. Orderinchaos 16:09, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Have to agree - at the moment their unloved status can only confuse newcomers. Perhaps re-direct the links in Template:WPAustralia Navigation to the noticeboard as well as tagging them {inactive}. Must have a look a the peer review one as that needs some work - Peripitus (Talk) 21:20, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
New requests are posted, if you look at the history you can see the activity which is several per month. However completed requests are removed, so it gives it that blank looking appearance. Most of the requests are to get upgrades in the class, and also some want their importance changed! Graeme Bartlett 21:35, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Category:Historians of Australia

Hello, I was just working on sorting & organizing Category:Historians by field of study, and discovered, to my great surprise, that there was no category for Historians of Australia. I then proceeded to search through the Australian categories, and found that you do have Category:Australian historians -- but that's merely their nationality, not an indication of what they write about. So I have gone ahead and created Category:Historians of Australia, with 3 parent categories.

I've tagged a couple of articles for people I happen to know, but rather than expending my own time going through each of the articles in Category:Australian historians to determine which of them also belong in Category:Historians of Australia, I will leave that in your hands, since in most cases I presume a glance at the name will be enough. And with that, I will take my leave of your fair land. Happy categorizing, mates! Cgingold 12:37, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
