Olympic Games table result in badminton player

Hi all.. based on this revisions on Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, do we need to add that table in the article related to badminton players? According to me, since we already put the linking target to the result of the tournament in the sentences, we don't need to put that table, so that it doesn't reduce the meaning of the linking target. cc: Zoglophie Stvbastian (talk) 16:17, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Currently one or more of this sport's events are listed at Wikipedia:In the news/Recurring items, meaning that they have been judged significant enough that, if nominated, they will always be posted to the In the news section of the main page (subject to article quality being sufficient). However a proposal has been made to remove some that not been nominated recently from that list. If the proposal is successful, the event(s) may still be nominated but the nomination will debate the significance of the event as well as article quality.

Liu Yi

Hi all.. Please be careful when entering Liu Yi's name in Wikipedia. There were three badminton players name Liu Yi:

English National Championship

As a result of mass creation by Racing Manager, we have separate articles for each and every English National Championship. We do not have separate yearly articles for International challenges even, so how can we expect those National tournaments to be gaining enough notability standards and have their own pages? Note that Wikipedia is not a database (read here WP:NOTDATABASE). My take is that English National Badminton Championships is ENOUGH just like Chinese National Badminton Championships and U.S. National Badminton Championships. I would like to know what other people have to say. Stvbastian, Florentyna, Greatminton, Yogwi21, Phenol123, Oahid and IssacT6. zoglophie 19:39, 8 November 2022 (UTC)

From my point of view the pages must be kept, similar like the parts of Category:Individual Speedway Polish Championship, Category:USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Category:Russian Artistic Gymnastics Championships amongst a lot others. BTW, Racingmanager did an incredible job by adding all the old All England results. really amazing. --Florentyna (talk) 21:01, 8 November 2022 (UTC)

Florentyna he indeed did a commendable job in all those All England articles, along with Pyeongchang. But those are by default one of the most notable tournaments in badminton and duly merit individual articles. I don't know about Gymnastics and other sports, but in Badminton which has it's own guidelines, this wasn't done before (making of individual national tournament pages) and needs to be reviewed thoroughly. One striking thing is we have guidelines for athletes, but not for tournaments and I think it should be formulated here. What do you feel about it? zoglophie 06:32, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

Aleenf1 please say something. Thanks. zoglophie 06:41, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
Zoglophie What i'm want to pointing out is whether the coverage is worth to have its own page for each edition, like WP:PAGEDECIDE? For me it seems like not, that's not even a feasibility to expand it. Is it worth to be expand the coverage while the attention is lower? I think my comments already give you answer. --Aleenf1 08:18, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

It will be good to have a consensus reached here to avoid future disruptions. I expect all members to participate here. Thanks. zoglophie 14:48, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

My sensing is that for national level championships probably need not go to the extend of having such coverage. However, I do have to giving Racing Manager some credits for his effort to do so. His/her works on English badminton history is just brilliant. Oahid (talk) 09:37, 11 November 2022 (UTC)

Personally, I feel that leaving a reference to each years Championships to the infobox should be enough if people want to view the scores of each player. Like Zoglophie mentioned, Wikipedia is not a database for information, so I believe consolidating the references and placing them into each year's infobox should be sufficient. issac, (my talk page 🗣) 02:59, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

Proposal: Mass merging of separate English National Championshis to the parent article

In light of the discussion above, I propose that all editions to be merged to English National Badminton Championship. Sorry for pinging you all again, but I think it's necessary to determine the consensus. Please say "Support" or "Oppose" with your rationale. Stvbastian, Florentyna, Greatminton, Yogwi21, Phenol123, Oahid and IssacT6, Aleenf1. Adding some more people who maybe interested in Timothytyy, Fahrurozi.86. zoglophie 10:22, 14 November 2022 (UTC)

Support Fahrurozi.86 (talk) 12:20, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
Support. National Championships are not significant enough to have an article for every year, according to the latest norms. Also crediting Racing Manager for his/her effort.
Comment: However I also need to point out that this WikiProject is lacking tournament articles. As you mentioned, "We do not have separate yearly articles for International challenges even". I think this is a major problem, as if you look at other WikiProjects, especially tennis, they have an article for Challenger events, which means that in one week, there are approximately 3-7 men's events that have an article. However, in this WikiProject, only 2-6 events in a month have articles. I am not here to force anyone to create articles about International Challenges, but I really want to point out that we lack essential information to make this WikiProject more successful. Thank you very much! Timothytyy (talk) 12:38, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
Support. I think national championships don't require a yearly article, especially considering other countries' tournaments don't have them. But credit to Racing Manager for their effort Phenol123 (talk) 09:54, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
Support. Other National Championships do not require their own article due to our Wikiproject's style of updating national championships and other events like International Challenge/Series etc. This is also contributed to the lack of trusted and well-claimed citations like what User:Timothytyy mentioned that make it hard for each year to have it's own separate article. issac, (my talk page 🗣) 13:30, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
Support. As my reason before. --Aleenf1 01:58, 17 November 2022 (UTC)

The consensus above are to merge all editions of English National Badminton Championships. But, the action made by Zoglophie is not a merge. At least, all the sources of each edition articles should be move to parent article before you redirect the page. Thank you. Stvbastian (talk) 07:50, 22 November 2022 (UTC)

Stvbastian sources for each year are already there. Check the article again. zoglophie 07:52, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
Zoglophie Noo.. Ex: in 1976 there were 3 good sources, but in parent article only have 1 source about 1976 tournament. And information about tournament location should be move to parent article. You can add a column for "location" and a column for "Ref." in parent article table. The essence of merging is for uniting two or more pages into a single page. It is done by copying some or all content from the source page(s) into the destination page and then replacing the source page with a redirect to the destination page. Not just a redirect at all. Stvbastian (talk) 08:04, 22 November 2022 (UTC)

I will check and do in a short while. Thanks. zoglophie 08:06, 22 November 2022 (UTC)

Description of BWF World Tour section

Based on the revisions made by User:Greatminton in some badminton player articles, i don't agree with the edits. The BWF World Tour is divided into levels of World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, Super 300 (part of the BWF World Tour), and the BWF Tour Super 100.

The fact

  • BWF Tour Super 100 is a part of the BWF World Tour
  • If user Greatminton use parentheses that said World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, Super 300 (part of the BWF World Tour), so that means Super 100 is not a part of BWF World Tour.
  • The differences between Super 100 and other levels are the Super 100 did not sponsored by HSBC. So, just like the previous description, the statement should be The BWF World Tour is divided into levels of World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, Super 300 (part of the HSBC World Tour), and the BWF Tour Super 100.
  • After i reverted the edits per User talk:Greatminton#Description of BWF World Tour section, Greatminton revert my edits with edits summary: What if HSBC stop sponsoring?
  • HSBC's use in this description is not for advertising purposes. The description written in an objective and unbiased style per WP:NOTADVERT
  • Greysia Polii and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo article already passed Good article criteria by including HSBC. If "HSBC" can not be used in Wikipedia article that means Polii and Sukamuljo will not passed GA criteria.

When this description was first used, I discussed it with several editors. And i hope WP badminton member can give their opinion so the description is less confusing and better. Zoglophie, Florentyna, Aleenf1, Timothytyy, Yogwi21, Phenol123, Oahid and IssacT6 Thank you Stvbastian (talk) 06:28, 8 December 2022 (UTC)

I will just answering as if anyone you tagged will get along. What if HSBC stop sponsoring? When it is say Osim or Metlife World Tour you want to change them all? Hence the difference between BWF World Tour and BWF Tour, no need to add sponsor's name. Greatminton (talk) 07:11, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
Greatminton That's just your assumption which is not based on facts and sources. If you disagree with something that has been agreed on for a long time, please try to communicate with other editors, and do not immediately revert edits. If your edits don't cause confusion, I'll agree. But, when you put parentheses with statement World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, Super 300 (part of the BWF World Tour), and people who read Wikipedia will think that BWF Tour Super 100 is not a part of BWF World Tour. BWF Statutes, Section 5.2.2: about BWF World Tour clearly said tht The BWF World Tour includes six levels of tournaments (level 1: World Tour Finals; to level 6: Super 100. Is it wrong to use the sponsor's name?

Thank you. Stvbastian (talk) 08:42, 8 December 2022 (UTC)

Stvbastian, i'm agree not to include the title sponsor, just like association football Emirates FA Cup, still it is FA Cup, while for consistency, "FA Cup" is enough, sponsor could be change anytime, this is also part of ideas to avoid conflict of interest. A fair check also that this also could avoid the advertising, or promotion. --Aleenf1 10:29, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
Aleenf1, after Greatminton revisions the sentence goes like this: "The BWF World Tour is divided into levels of World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, Super 300 (part of the BWF World Tour), and the BWF Tour Super 100." Don't you see the confusion in that statement? Stvbastian (talk) 11:32, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
What should be in BWF World Tour is inclusive in BWF calendar, but BWF World Tour Finals is not a level, rather than conclusive of a season finale. --Aleenf1 11:47, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
What I mean is when Greatminton use parentheses with statement "World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, Super 300 (part of the HSBC World Tour)", then he mean the BWF Tour Super 100 is not a part of BWF World Tour? You can read here: https://web.archive.org/web/20171207141230/http://system.bwf.website/documents/folder_1_81/folder_1_82/New-Regulations-2018/5.2.2%20BWF%20World%20Tour%20Regulations.pdf for the BWF World Tour structure.

In order not to cause confusion to readers, i propose to remove the sentences in parentheses so the description become: "The BWF World Tour is divided into levels of World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, Super 300, and the BWF Tour Super 100."

Can be bold to change, if anything revert by him again, kindly back here, and we will have a look. --Aleenf1 14:30, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
I support to this change. No confusion from me when I read that statement compared to the previous statement. issac, (my talk page 🗣) 10:52, 9 December 2022 (UTC)

Color coding of BCA

Hello, I would like to ask what is the color coding of BCA? Editing WTR right now and need it for Egypt. Thanks. issac, (my talk page 🗣) 20:53, 14 December 2022 (UTC)

Maybe you can use pastel green. The color in team ranking maybe based on this temp International badminton. Thanks Stvbastian (talk) 00:22, 15 December 2022 (UTC)

Okay. I have used the color code #77DD77 to note down BCA in the World Team Rankings. If any Federation requires it or is in the WTR, Please use it accordingly as above. Thanks. issac, (my talk page 🗣) 08:10, 15 December 2022 (UTC
