Scope of Project

edit

Why are pages for movies that just happen to be on blu-ray but have no information about the Blu-ray disc other then perhaps a release date considered to be within the scope of the project. I think this is stretching it to far and spamming up talk pages. What say you? --Ray andrew 01:31, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Blu-ray Project plans to post the template on all games and movies since they are under our scope. We do plan on at least mentioning that it is released on blu-ray disc on the articles, but we are not that far yet. Remember that this project is less then week old. --Playstationdude 22:05, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well you can claim a scope on everything in the universe, but if in effect all that happens is the articles talk page gets a tag then I don't see the point. I don't think we should tag articles that do not and will not have any information relating to blu-ray other then a release date, because all that we will accomplish is to spam the talk page. --Ray andrew 01:02, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry, but all I have to say is that as long as it is under our scope it needs our template for other people to notice our presence in case they need help with the article.--Playstationdude 18:44, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Ray andrew, unless it's something that directly related to Blu-Ray then it shouldn't get the tag.--SeizureDog 09:36, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I guess all Blu-ray movies is to much, but Blu-ray movies not on HD-DVD and PS3 games should have the template on them like Spiderman 3. We need to also make a effort to include that the movies are coming on Blu-ray in the article.--Playstationdude 21:56, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merger

edit

I am proposing a merger between:

List of corporations supporting Blu-ray

and

Blu-ray Disc Association

basically they contained the same information. If anybody merged those articles, please do not miss any single information in both article.--w_tanoto 07:10, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Portal

edit

I've been working on it for a couple of days now and it is finally done. I am proud to announce the Blu-ray Portal!--Playstationdude 01:10, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Blu-ray Template

edit

I would like to propose a Blu-ray template to be made, containing:

and maybe, PlayStation 3 --w_tanoto 20:45, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Great idea. If you are going to put the PS3 in it, I would have it in a Players section.--Playstationdude 22:09, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
On second thought, I think we should combine the topic with HD DVD. With only BD, it looked scarce.--w_tanoto 07:27, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Done. On trial on Blu-ray article.--w_tanoto 22:28, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Category

edit

Just want to let people know that I got the blu-ray category up and running. To go to it, just put Category:Blu-ray in the search bar. See any articles that should be there, go ahead and add them. I am planning to make subcategories in the future for movies and games released on blu-ray. --Playstationdude 00:45, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just one problem, it should be Category:Blu-ray Disc. That's the full and proper name (coincidentally, this project should also be renamed accordingly). —Locke Coletc 02:59, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I will make it Category:Blu-ray Disc and make Category:Blu-ray a redirect.--Playstationdude 21:34, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
edit

I made a logo for the project. It's nothing fancy and I don't mind if anyone updates or makes a better one to replace it. Check it out on the project page.--Playstationdude 22:51, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I put a wikipedia ad thatUser:Gurch made. It isn't animated, but I think he is going to work on it later. I also asked him to make some changes on his talk page. I thought we might as well use it as a good logo. So go head and stick it on your userpage!--Playstationdude 00:40, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I thought I saw free logos, free of copyright on the website that promotes blu ray, but now I cannot find it anymore. Andries 01:08, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I also made the logo for our portal: File:Blurayportal.JPG

State of the project?

edit

Hiya guys, you may know me from Blu-ray.com. I wonder if you guys are still going through with this, as I'd like to help. :) Been following this stuff since the summer of 2004 so I'd like to be of assistance if possible. Thunderhawk89 (talk) 00:43, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Even though it may look like nothing is going on at the project page, we are still working on the pages themselves. We get new members about once a month.--Playstationdude (talk) 19:49, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

CEATEC

edit

Can we add CEATEC in our Wikiproject? The article needs quite a bit of work. Kushalt 00:12, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't seem to be this project's scope. You can still work on it though, and I'm sure there is at least one project that is connected to it.--Playstationdude (talk) 03:58, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sony BDP-S1

edit

I've cleaned this article up as much as I can with the time that I had but, unfortuntunately I don't know much about this machine, so I wasn't able to add much, I removed the advertisment template aswell. Seanor3 (talk) 14:43, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

May be a selection of Wikipedia can be published on blu ray

edit

Five times more content than on DVD. Andries (talk) 13:07, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sends the admins a letter about it.--Playstationdude (talk) 23:16, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Requested article

edit

Posted at WP:REQUEST I asked for Comparison of Blu-ray Disc and DVD - technical specifications, cost and market adoption, course of respective format wars, etc. Do you think this is a viable article topic? Thanks. —Justin (koavf)TCM08:21, 17 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Viable? Category:Music released on Blu-ray?

edit

I see that the Category:Music released on Blu-ray used to contain over a hundred albums, and yet was deleted (see the log for reasons). Surely there's no difference between this and the other categories for SACD and DVDA? Anybody go any arguments for or against? If the deletion was correct, what should it be replaced with? Music available in surround? and Music available on a High Definition format? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.141.22.22 (talk) 17:45, 4 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

PlayStation 3 at WP:FAR

edit

I have nominated PlayStation 3 for a featured article review/removal here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Soory for being late. Secret Saturdays (talk to me) 02:36, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

edit

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Expert attention

edit

This is a notice about Category:Blu-ray articles needing expert attention, which might be of interest to your WikiProject. It will take a while before the category is populated. Iceblock (talk) 02:33, 14 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject X is live!

edit

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Portal:Blu-ray

edit

Portal:Blu-ray is tagged as being relevant to this WikiProject. That portal has been (individually) nominated for deletion. I'm wondering whether anyone here wants to try to improve that portal, as the main justification for the deletion nomination is that it's out of date (along with the Blu-ray article). - dcljr (talk) 00:04, 22 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject

edit

The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.

Portals are being redesigned.

The new design features are being applied to existing portals.

At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.

The discussion about this can be found here.

Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.

Background

edit

On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.

There's an article in the current edition of the Signpost interviewing project members about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.

So far, 84 editors have joined.

If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.

If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.

Thank you.    — The Transhumanist   07:27, 30 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

edit

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
