"Roman Catholic Church" vs "Catholic Church"
editI notice the proposal that the use of Roman Catholic Church should be avoided and just Catholic Church used. The problem is some churches which are called "Catholic" are out of communion with Rome. Thus, use of Catholic Church is inaccurate and misleading. The problem is the church in question has no accurate name! Roman can be understood as meaning "in communion with Rome" not "Latin Rite". However, if this justification does not satisfy, there are alternatives. For example, Holy Roman Church (this is used in Habemas Papam, although this has only been used for Latin Rite cardinals so what would be said of an Eastern Rite patriarch is unclear) or Catholic Church in Roman Communion (slightly cumbersome). A name change should definitely be considered but Catholic Church is not appropriate. MH au 07:48, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
Portal
editI want to make a portal I already read the instuctions but when it says I should " Create a new page using Portal:Topic as the title of the page " I know how to make a new page but when I put the name of the portal in the 'Type a title:" it says "The requested page title was invalid, empty, an incorrectly linked inter-language or inter-wiki title, or contained unsupported characters".Bewareofdog 02:09, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- What portal topic are you trying to create? (copying to HelpDesk) V-Man737 02:35, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Roman Catholic Church.Bewareofdog 04:32, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'll copy this to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Catholicism/To-do list, they'd probably have some sort of prerogative with it. V-Man737 04:57, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Images
editI know where to get free high-quality images on things Catholic, mostly taken from the City of Rome. Please see HERE, where the owner declared: I, JPSonnen, took all these photos myself and I give permission for them to be used in any way on the internet.
Is there a way to publicize this better in the WikiProject Catholicism? Thanks. Marax (talk) 08:10, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
American Board of Catholic Missions
editI propose to redirect the American Board of Catholic Missions article, with just one dead link, to the article Catholic Home Missions which is more inclusive. Any support or objections? @JASpencer: @JoeHebda: Jzsj (talk) 01:15, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- @JASpencer: Before making the redirect, I would recommend taking the American Board of Missions article content & placing it in Catholic Home Missions article with a section title after "History" section. Just my opinion. Regards, — JoeHebda • (talk) 01:45, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
