How do I join?
editI would like to join, I have done a lot of Disney attraction articles, how do I sign up? --Randomgbear 04:52, 14 March 2006 (UTC) You can sign up on the project page under Cast Members, and start doing some of the tasks on the To Do list. Thanks for helping! --Cast Member 55
- Signed up myself, and noticed that the attractions template list is not updated. I'll start by working on that --DisneyFreak96 04:53, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
- It seems the sites have the templates but have not been added to the template list. I will be working on that --DisneyFreak96 06:46, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Signed myself up, look forward to helping in anyway I can! --Andysund 07:06, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Count me in!
editNot only am I a premium annual passholder, I'm also an administrator at disney.wikia.com. Anyone who wants to participate over there is more than welcome. In fact, I was working on bringing the Disneyland Railroad article to featured status before I left. It's almost done and I'll be adding pictures. Might even add spoken narration to this. Anyone for collaborating on this and bringing it up to snuff? - Lucky 6.9 03:48, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- Me too! I've been visiting Disneyland almost since it first opened. I also worked for The Walt Disney Company for four years and have been "behind the scenes" at Disneyland and Imagineering. Disneyfile 22:45, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Finding Nemo
editDuring a January trip to Disneyland, I took some pictures of the construction for the new Finidng Nemo attraction. I don't know enough about the attraction itself to start an article on it, but I'd be happy to provide the pics in case there is an article started in the future. Lbbzman 17:30, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- There is currently an article for Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage as well as one for the original Submarine Voyage, and if you have the pictures, feel free to use them! --Lyght 20:36, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! I don't know how I missed that existing article! Lbbzman 20:45, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Disneyland attractions template
editI have a problem with the long, looong Disneyland attractions bar that litters every single article about an attraction that appears in three or more parks. It seems completely unnecessary and unfair to the other parks that share an article with the ride at DL. And to put in one of those bars for all the listed parks is not an option--there is no room. Tomsintown
- I agree. I added one into Pirates of the Caribbean, and now wish I hadn't. Other templates of this sort throughout Wikipedia have infobox's designed to fit at the bottom of the article. This doesn't interfere with the text or other images in the article, and allows people to stack different infoboxes - such as a Disneyland infobox and a Walt Disney World infobox.. Scroll to the bottom of the Star Wars article for an example of two wide infoboxes stacked on top of each other. Disneyfile 23:11, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- I thought that long infobox was kind of pointless as well. It looks fine, but it takes up the entire right side of the article, and usually goes far past the Disneyland part of the article. Template:disneyrides works better but even that is a little ridiculous, especially if there is a link to current attractions in the see also section. --blm07 23:53, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, how about this template I just whipped up: Template:Disneyland2? I've put it in at the bottom of the Haunted Mansion article. Disneyfile 00:49, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- It does look better than the first one, but I wonder if it should be at the end of the Disneyland section of the article. Personally, I think a link to the current attractions is enough, but I guess we'll see what others have to say. --blm07 20:29, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- I am going to do a similar effort to the DCA template which has the same problem. Remember the new attraction template (for now) is Template:Infobox Disney ride. Bytebear 05:47, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Brand new infobox
editSince I was never happy with the super duper simple templates (Template:Disney show & Template:Disney ride) I've been tinkering with a brand spanking new infobox template for the past couple of hours. Check out Template:Disney attraction infobox, it can be used for Disney shows and rides and it looks real nice, nice as the infobox you guys have been using. To see it in action check out Main Street Electrical Parade. It even includes a place for the four New York World's Fair attractions and sponsors for each resort used. --blm07 02:28, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Very nice! For future enhancements, I'd like to see the size of the images standardized and linked to the appropriate theme park articles. The title banners need to span the entire infobox, and the text column needs to be wiened. Disneyfile 03:18, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, I think this will be the last edit for a while. First off, images were removed because of policy, so I made it all text only. Sponsors were also removed since it is kind of pointless to include them in a infobox. I have modified the infobox so much that I've created a new template here Template:Infobox Disney attraction, this also goes within the guidelines of "Infobox" before the template name. Check this page to see the new one in action. I think it is looking even nicer than before, so let me know what you all think. --blm07 18:57, 5 October 2006 (UTC) Also see Template talk:Infobox Disney attraction#Poll
Alright, I'm sure just about everyone by now knows that I've heavily modified the infobox since that last post, and I'm going to put the new setup into effect soon if nobody opposes, and I'll edit all the articles with my old template to the new one. See Template:Disney attraction infobox for the new setup, this should be the final change and anything more should be tweaks. One other thing: I won't change the infoboxes that you guys have put on articles unless you give me the ok. --blm07 20:48, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- See the Wikipedia:WikiProject Disney for info on the new attraction infobox. There was sone controversay with the WDW people. It was resolved with a compromise and a new template called Template:Infobox Disney ride. The name will be changed to "Infobox Disney attraction" once all the links to that template are changed to the new template. Please help convert if you can! Bytebear 05:52, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Project Directory
editHello. The WikiProject Council is currently in the process of developing a master directory of the existing WikiProjects to replace and update the existing Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. These WikiProjects are of vital importance in helping wikipedia achieve its goal of becoming truly encyclopedic. Please review the following pages:
- User:Badbilltucker/Culture Directory,
- User:Badbilltucker/Culture Directory 2,
- User:Badbilltucker/Philosophy and religion Directory,
- User:Badbilltucker/Sports Directory,
- User:Badbilltucker/Geographical Directory,
- User:Badbilltucker/Geographical Directory/United States, (note: This page will be retitled to more accurately reflect its contents)
- User:Badbilltucker/History and society directory, and
- User:Badbilltucker/Science directory
and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope to have the existing directory replaced by the updated and corrected version of the directory above by November 1. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 21:00, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry if you tried to update it before, and the corrections were gone. I have now put the new draft in the old directory pages, so the links should work better. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused you. B2T2 23:44, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia Day Awards
editHello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 16:01, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Problems with Userbox
editI have deleted my userbox as the image is too large, and the text link to WikiProject Disneyland is nearly the same color as the background. Perhaps someone could redo the template? --DizFreak talk Contributions 04:10, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- I redid it and put it back on my page --DizFreak talk Contributions 16:31, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Superstar Limo
editHey guys, I just joined the project (and this is my first, so be gentle ;)). I'm working on the Superstar_Limo article (I know, collective shudder) and was wondering if anyone had any pictures to add to it, or could help out on that page as I only rode the attraction once and don't remember much about it. Thanks. Shinku Hisaki 03:36, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- I added the disney ride infobox. I have some video footage somewhere, but maybe you can check out YouTube and find some screen shots. Bytebear 03:55, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Hidden "Mickey 50 Ears"
editI recommenced that Hidden "Mickey 50 Ears" be merged into Hidden Mickey. There has also been another recommendation to merge into Happiest Homecoming on Earth however the talk pages Talk:Happiest_Homecoming_on_Earth show many people against this. Since both of these requests have been online for a while, I was going to just start merging it into Hidden Mickey and place a reference on the HHoE page directing to the new location. Your input??? Tiggerjay 18:32, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- After a ranging amount of silence on this issue, I have gone ahead an merged these articles. Tiggerjay 23:08, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
New Template - Disneyhotelinfo
editCreated a new template for Disney hotels, already edited into Disneyland Resort Hotels. This keeps a consistant look with the Disneyparkinfo template for DL & DCA. Tiggerjay 19:00, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
Photo questions
editHello, I notice that some of the articles related to Disneyland have some great photos, while others are not as well covered. For instance, there are no interior photos of the Haunted Mansion attraction. I might be visiting Disneyland later this month and I wonder (1) Does Disney place any kind of restrictions on what kind of camera gear can be used in the park (I have some pretty long lenses) and (2) If I do go with my camera, are there any particular shots you would like me to try to take? I recognize that some shots (in the darkened Haunted Mansion from a moving vehicle) may be hard to get, but I can give it a shot. I have e-mailed Disney asking about any restrictions on camera gear but so far they have not replied. Any info anyone has on their rules will help me know what to bring if I go. Johntex\talk 00:52, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Disneyland does not restrict any camera equipment, other than you cannot have rolling cases. You have to carry all your stuff yourself. You can set up tripods and all that, but you cannot restrict other guests movements or block paths or doorways, or use flash photos on some of the darker rides. If you do use a flash, you will be reprimanded, but if you take only one quick shot or two you might get away with it. You may want to talk to guest relations prior to entering the park just to get a feel for what the full set of rules are. The guest relations booth is just to the left of the main Disneyland entrance gates. Bytebear 03:51, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- This is sort of a half-answer, but I do recall somewhere that there is a restriction on the length of the lens permitted into the park by a regular visitor. I believe it is like 8" or perhaps 12". Anything longer and they want you to get permission. The reason is that only professional photographers have such long (read: fast) lenses. I'll dig around to see if I can find that offically documented anywhere. Tiggerjay 19:26, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I got a reply from Disneyland: "Guests are welcome to bring photo equipment provided that it it is not obstructive to the themed environment of the DISNEYLAND Resort...Guests are requested to not utilize a flash in our shows or attractions." So, it looks like long zoom lenses, tripods, etc are OK so long as they don't get in the way. If I do go, I'll try to get a lot of pictures and put them on Commons. Going To Disneyland Sunday, Any Picture Requests?
editHey guys I'm an AP holder that lives 15 minutes from Disneyland. I'm heading to Disneyland Park this Sunday (8/12) for the day just to take photos all over the park. Leave me a list here of photos you would like taken and I'll print the list before I go. I see a lot of the attraction info boxes don't have photos. Jonnyboyca 11:07, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hope you had a great trip! Any pictures for us? Thanks. Tiggerjay 04:33, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- YES! I took a lot of pictures of attraction entrances and their signs. Still have a lot to take like restaurants and I didnt have time for Fantasyland at all. You'll notice some of the infobox's on the pages being added with photos I took. Jonnyboyca 04:23, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Main Street Vehicles
editOn the template it appears that the editor is suggesting that there should be separate articles for each vehicle. I would imagine that simply "main street vehicles" would suffice. Your thoughts? Tiggerjay 06:25, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Due to lack of response, I went ahead and boldly edited the template to simplify the vehicles for Main Street. Tiggerjay 04:32, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- I have great pictures of the vehicles but don't know where I should put them. Are we making a 'Main Street vehicles' page or what? Jonnyboyca 04:26, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
- What about a gallery on the Main Street, U.S.A. article? Just a thought. --blm07 11:46, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed - lets do that and then when/if the content becomes substantial enough, we can always merge out into its own article. :) Tiggerjay 00:19, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- You got it! Just added the photos to a gallery. Jonnyboyca 01:41, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Disneyland Restaurant Pages?
editWhen are we going to start working on the restaurant pages? I have lots of great pictures of the signs and exterior/interiors of the restaurants. I believe we also need an infobox template for this too? Jonnyboyca 10:27, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- I think restaurant pages would be a great idea, but I'm not sure there is enough content to make them more than just a stub, and most of them probably are not notable enough on their own. Probably at best, we could get a list going, and add some select pictures. Tiggerjay (talk) 06:29, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.
If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none
parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Are there enough articles on this subject to justify an Outline of Disneyland?
editBy the way, here's a relevant discussion about subject development you might find interesting.
Now back to the question...
The Transhumanist 01:31, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm, I'm new to the whole Outline discussion, but at the surface level, it seems like it would be a good idea. Tiggerjay (talk) 06:24, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
WP 1.0 bot announcement
editThis message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Disneyland articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release
editVersion 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the Disneyland articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool
editHello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.
We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
