Overlapping scope?

I notice there's a new project WP:WikiProject Mass surveillance... seems like there's overlapping scope with this project. Perhaps a merged project would be better, with taskforces focused on each aspect? -- 70.50.151.11 (talk) 13:59, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

It does appear that WP:Mass surveillance is more establish than WP:Espionage. I have tried to get help from Wikipedia users to help set up such "structure" among other things. Unfortunately, I've been unsucessful in doing so. My opinion, "espionage" is a broader term, while a percentage of it could be "mass surveillance". For individuals, that have been convicted of "espionage" sounds better than under "mass surveillance" and "military intelligence". Adamdaley (talk) 01:11, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
I had an idea if WP:Espionage and WP:Mass Surveillance was to merge into one WikiProject, mayby there could be a subcategory for the template on the talkpage for "Espionage" and "Biographies". Adamdaley (talk) 01:49, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
No, I oppose any merger. The Mass Surveillance WikiProject exists for few editors with an axe to grind about police state tactics. Espionage is the act of collecting against a government. Spying on terrorists or criminals (or your own citizens) isn't espionage. WP:Espionage is moribund and I would agree with it being shut down (marked historical) rather than being merged. That's fine, no hard feelings. I'll continue with the WP:Espionage! Adamdaley (talk) 06:25, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Someone at the other discussion, pointed out WP:WikiProject Intelligence Agency, which is inactive, and seemingly a good thing to merge together with this project. As "Mass surveillance" seems to be going to be separate. What about combining "WP Intelligence Agency" with "WP Espionage", as separate taskforces underneath WP:WikiProject Espionage, Intelligence, Surveillance (WPEIS) ? -- 70.50.151.11 (talk) 05:54, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Espionage Overhaul

In my opinion there shouldn't be a redirect of "WP:Espionage" to find WikiProject Espionage. For example to have an abbreviation of WikiProject Military History they have a redirection of that "WP:MILHIST", which is understandable. This is a start of an overhaul of WikiProject Espionage. Adamdaley (talk) 00:20, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

That makes no sense. Why shouldn't there be a redirect? What is your end objective in this "overhaul"? Chris Troutman (talk) 00:42, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
My "end objective" would be improving WP:Espionage. I, have not fully gone into deep thought. I am simply leaving my thoughts open to possibilities and other ideas. Adamdaley (talk) 01:57, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
The shortcut is WP:ESPIONAGE. WP:Espionage, which would be a Wikipedia project page, doesn't exist. What would the page be about? A different name (spying, surveillance) could avoid confusion with the shortcut. —rybec 06:13, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

My next proposed overhaul is that of the WikiProject template. I envision it to have a subgroup for "Biographies", "Organizations" (Organisations, whatever the spelling maybe) and "Groups" (Such as spy rings etc). Adamdaley (talk) 02:58, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Please reassess the Directorate of Intelligence (Ireland) article

Hi there, the article Directorate of Intelligence (Ireland) is currently rated as C-Class on the quality scale, but has since undergone major editing and I believe it needs a reassessment from WikiProject Espionage. Thanks. IrishSpook (talk) 10:51, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
