Welcome
editHello. This page is for Project Participants to introduce themselves and tell a little about their background and interests in mixed drinks and related drinkware. If you are a Participant, please add a new section with your Wikipedia name for the topic and describe yourself and your reasons for participating in and goals to achieve through this WikiProject. Thanks!

editHello. I got involved with this WikiProject in late November 2006. At the time, the List of cocktails was in very bad shape. A few edits turned into well over a thousand edits in that article and the articles linked from that page. I quickly realized that this was too big of a job for one person, and I worked to revive the WikiProject responsible for overseeing these articles.
I have made several goofs along the way, but all with the best of intentions. :-) Fortunately there are a lot of great people here at Wikipedia who offer help when you need it. I have found that even when I think my way is best, there is usually a better way to do things. Therefore, I am a pretty open-minded person, even if I seem a bit hesitant at first. I have invested a lot of time and effort into improving both the Wikipedia articles on this topic and to this WikiProject.
This is rather ironic, considering that I rarely drink mixed drinks, alcoholic or otherwise. My knowledge on the subject has increased dramatically, but I am still far from an expert when it comes to details about the various drinks. I am a quick learner, an effective researcher, a decent copy editor, and a good organizer. These are all talents that have been put to the test since getting involved in this WikiProject.
My favorite alcoholic drinks: Mai Tai (if a blender is available) or a Rum & Coke if not. Favorite non-alcoholic drinks: Water and Tea.

editHi, I'm interesting in writing/editing some articles. I've adopted a few on the adoption list. I'm working on the Sidecar, Sazerac, Jack Rose and Satan's Whiskers aricles.

editHello, I just jumped right in and started working on a few cocktails. I had been following some links and when I hit a dead in, I started filling in the blanks. So far I have done Nikolaschka, edited the [[Grasshopper (beverage), and made an entry for the Bijou Cocktail. I am rather new to editing but hope to try and help out.

editHi there. I am "new" to Wikipedia. I have previous experience with editing on Wikipedia though. I will be editing a few of the articles that are part of the project, but more importantly, I will be be generally adding to any articles on drinks that are stubs or simply don't seem to have quite enough information on them. In the end, I would hope that all 'mixed drinks' articles could have a uniform format - a brief description, a history followed by the variations and so on. I hope I can help. I'm off to tackle some of the to-do list: which, by the way, someone with more experience of the project might want to review, as it seems that some of the de-stubbing has been completed (certainly, some of the articles on the to-do list no longer have their stub-tags).

editHey there. I came across this randomly; watched The Blues Brothers the other night on AMC, was curious just what an Orange Whip was. Someone else had apparently seen it last week when I TiVoed it, because the article was just created a few days ago, but it had no content, and misidentified what was obviously an alcoholic drink as a retired fountain drink (I can find one cite of that online, as a Yahoo Answer).
So I looked it up myself, added it, and found the other articles when I was looking to see how other cocktails had been laid out. Added the movie reference (which is rather famous; almost 15k hits on 'three orange whips' on google, which for a quote is tremendous), a few other things. While doing that, noticed that a lot of the articles are inconsistant; nothing *major* at all, just sometimes rum drinks are listed as such, sometimes they haven't been (I assume because the author didn't know they could be), etc.
I'm a wikignome at heart, and this is something I've been passionately looking for; it's not a HUGE project that could take years to straighten, and lots of people would argue with me on (fortunately, if you think a drink is made one way, and someone says, 'no! it's made like this! you can just stick them both in a variation!) but a good, meaty one that I'd love to work on for a few months...plugging in infoboxes, straightening categorizations, etc. --Thespian 10:03, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

editHi there and 'Servus' from Vienna!
I was researching Cocktail history an recipes for some articles and got upset with the inconsistent formatting and incomplete information on some entries. Thus I decided to start participating by working on some of the entries (both in English and German Wikipedia).
BTW, in the German version it's even more problematic as only few Cocktails have been added and some have been deleted under the motive 'Wikipedia is NOT a cookbook' Yeah, sure, if everybody deletes everything that doesn't interest them we will get a very, very compact encyclopedia.
I agree that really bad articles should be deleted if nobody's willing to amend and improve them, and even more so for articles infringing on somebody's rights However I often don't agree with other requests for delete. Gosh, where should we find it if not here? And the more the better, as long as quality can be assured!
Enough of that - I love to have a nice drink after a long work day - or two or more - with friends and I pride myself of being a tolerable mixologist. My personal favorites are the (very) Dry Martini and the Flying, also referred to as Hot as Hell.

editHello. I have an interest in food and drink and related topics. I'm going to try to tighten up the liqueurs end of things first. I see there is a need for articles on the major producers and all but the most popular liqueurs. I'm working on Lucas Bols right now as a way to learn the wiki interface. I used to do a lot of technical writing in a previous life, so I'm used to generalize markup languages, but wiki has some quirks. Feel free to visit me on my talk page. Being a newbie, I'm not exactly sure where day to day discussion on the project takes place (or even if it takes place). If somebody comes along and points me in the right direction, I'd be glad to contribute. Thanks! Consuelo D'Guiche 18:17, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

editHi! I've been interested in cocktails since I started bartending almost 20 years ago. Since then my focus has been on training new staff, so helping out with this WikiProject is a natural. Anthony Caporale (talk) 03:17, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
