Banner breaks WP:Germany assessment

Good idea on the taskforce, but the banner you are using is breaking the assessment for the WPGermany articles by using the same categories. My recommendation would be to get 52 Pickup (talk · contribs) to take a look at the overlap, and possibly include another taskforce switch into the WPGermany banner. The changes to the main banner are almost complete, but I have a question related to this project. Does this subproject deal with only roads or all types of transport? At the moment, this project page contradicts itself. This needs to be clarified, so the changes to the template can be finalised, and the subproject page renamed if necessary. - 52 Pickup (talk) 18:07, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

German railway stations without geocodes

I've now managed to get the number of German railway station articles without geocodes to below 50; see User:The Anome/German railway stations still missing coordinates for the list of those remaining. Road Infoboxes

Would anyone object to the uses of {{Infobox Bundesautobahn}} and {{Infobox Bundesstrasse}} being replaced with {{Infobox road}}? I could do a few sample edits if anyone has any questions. -- WOSlinker (talk) 22:01, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Please don't do this! This is a major template, supported by numerous sub-templates that enables route information in potentially hundreds of articles on German federal roads to be displayed or hidden in the infobox as desired. It will save a massive effort in converting German Wiki articles to English Wiki and also hides the route info in the infobox, only displaying it on request. Infobox Road is incapable of handling the route info and it does not display correctly when moved it into the articles themselves. --Bermicourt (talk) 21:35, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

The infobox can handle the collapsible junction section by using {{Collapsible list}}, see Bundesstraße 243. I can change route 1-9 to match if needed, but when the routes are long, it's not really appropriate to include them in the infobox. -- WOSlinker (talk) 21:54, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

(ec) Please note, there is a Manual of Style section on formatting road junction lists, MOS:RJL. The German articles need to be more than just German-to-English translations with the same infobox template. They need to be translated in terms of the style guidelines that differ here. Interstate 99 doesn't get a special infobox on the French Wikipedia just because it is an American highway. It gets the same infobox as other highways, matching the rest of the French Wikipedia's styles in the process. German articles should do the same here. Imzadi 1979 → 21:59, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

I have an issue with the usage of collapsible tables in the articles. MOS:COLLAPSE states that, "collapsible sections are useful in navboxes or infoboxes, or in tables which consolidate information covered in the prose." The issue I have isn't that they are in use, it's more that the information isn't covered elsewhere in the article per se. The second part of this is that well, the lead (which includes the infobox) should be a summary of the article. Everything in the lead should be duplicated in the article. (There are some minor exceptions, like alternate names, pronunciations.) The North American highway convention, which has been duplicated elsewhere, is that there is a summary junction list in the infobox, with the full list in a table at the end of the article. This German convention puts the whole list in its entirety in the infobox, and then collapses the list. The information isn't necessarily covered in prose, which doesn't satisfy MOS:COLLAPSE, and it means that information in the lead isn't duplicated in the article, which doesn't satisfy WP:LEAD. The format of these lists if moved out of the infobox as WOSLinker has done satisfies those two sections of the MOS, but doesn't satisfy MOS:RJL in terms of format. In implementing his infobox conversion though, we're closer to following the English MOS though. The fact that the German Wikipedia does something doesn't matter here. Other stuff exists, and we're discussing how to improve the English Wikipedia's coverage of German Highways. Imzadi 1979 → 02:00, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Ford Taunus P4

If someone reading this (1) is interested in cars and (2) has half an hour to spare and (3) understands front suspension geometry and idiosynchratic cylinder heads, then I would be grateful if you could take a look at both the German entry on the Ford Taunus P4 and my English language entry on the Taunus P4 (which is 90% translation and 10% sourced from my collection of books and and magazines). And improve the bits I missed out or got wrong. The German entry rather lost me on the subject of suspension geometry and engine design which, as far as I can make out, German wiki contributors think more weird than wonderful. No doubt there are other things I did that also invite improvement.
