Football club article names
edit- FC x
- x FC
- x F.C.
- x Football Club
I didn't see anything on the project page that discussed this, although the template used FC. The listed articles aren't consistent. Should we move them towards a standard? What standard? Lfstevens (talk) 17:53, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I was noticing the serious inconsistency myself. I'm not sure if we should try moving them, since there are almost 200,000 articles in the project, thousands of which are probably about clubs. Even if we fixed all the ones we copy edited, that would leave 99.9% of them mixed up. The only solution might be to get WP Football itself involved, and see if they're interested in coming up with a standard and starting a projectwide effort to put them all in order. —Torchiest talkedits 17:59, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- Strongly agree with Torchiest. I'm not sure if there should even be a standard, other than WP:COMMONNAME. Clubs probably have different name forms in different territories. The Wikiproject should have the decision, anyway. --Stfg (talk) 18:26, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- I had no idea how many there were. For the "convention"ally-inclined, practice appears to vary by language. The Brits are rigorous about x F.C. The French are pretty random. Germans go FC or SC x. Babel reigns! Lfstevens (talk) 19:52, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
- I thought the same thing. Probably influenced by adjective placement and such. —Torchiest talkedits 20:11, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

List order within project
editDoes Catscan order the list it creates in any particular way? Is there a way to influence its order? Do we want to? --Stfg (talk) 23:20, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, the default order is by the article number, so the oldest articles are at the top of the list. It can be ordered in a number of other ways though, such as by size or alphabetically. —Torchiest talkedits 02:40, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Great. What does everyone think of whether it would help us to impose an order? Size? Date of copyedit tag? ...? --Stfg (talk) 09:23, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

editThe blitz ends shortly, and I'll do the barnstars tomorrow. Don't worry about totals, as I'll check the arithmetic anyway, but please could everyone ensure that all their edits are listed in their section within the next few hours. Thanks. --Stfg (talk) 23:44, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
- It should be correct now. —Torchiest talkedits 00:19, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
