Regarding Zones

edit

Hi @Agathoclea::
The zones of Nepal are still in functions so IMO we have to listed them too.--Biplab Anand (Talk) 11:32, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Move to articlespace

edit

Hi @Agathoclea:: The draft have been updated with proper sources, so let's move them to articlespace.--Biplab Anand (Talk) 06:20, 16 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

The pages should not be moved to the main space until the end of September, when the contest ends. A move in September would cause bot malfunctioning.--Ymblanter (talk) 13:09, 16 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Agathoclea:  @Ymblanter: The contest is over, Let's move. --Biplab Anand (Talk) 17:30, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
I will have a look now at the pages, and, if they are all fine, move them.--Ymblanter (talk) 17:34, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
I see a number of problems which are probably better fixed before we move anything. I will start listing them here.--Ymblanter (talk) 17:39, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Merged lists

edit

A good number of lists are recorded as "merged" I will redirect them for the moment. But I noticed, that the IDs of the Monuments have changed. Is there any reference for that? Agathoclea (talk) 18:00, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Can we actually come up with a list of pages which need to be moved and replace others by redirects?--Ymblanter (talk) 18:03, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Depends. If all your unsourced ones above are marked red and labeled as merged on the project page you can move the green ones. Agathoclea (talk) 18:15, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
It would be much easier to move all of them at the same time since there is also some maintenance work to do (categories, cross-links etc).--Ymblanter (talk) 18:20, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
The red ones will not be moved at this time. We might later as part of a history merge. But as far as the finished product is concerned they are toast as there where changes in the third level administration units earlier this year which complicated matters. Agathoclea (talk) 18:23, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
All the above are redirected to their new lists. A history merge will be a little more complicated, as there are often more than one source lists for the destination list. Agathoclea (talk) 19:24, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Great, thanks. I will check the rest of the lists, just to be sure we are not missing anything, and then start moving. This is certainly not going to happen today, I will be sleeping in an hour.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:35, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
I have finished looking at the lists, and I do not see any further problems. I will start moving, this could take several days.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:04, 2 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
As for the changed ID's, I would argue to keep the old ID. At some point we can import the lists to Wikidata, and use that as identifier. If we change the ID after all, at the very least we should make sure that the ID's remain unique even with the old id's, and that we add a parameter 'oldid'. (there are more countries where ID's have changed at a certain point) Then we could run a bot to change the ID's on the image pages, at some point. effeietsanders 17:34, 4 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Further actions

edit

I now finished moving everything to the main namespace. There are still some problems which needs to be addressed.

  • List of Monuments in Bagmati Zone links to a bunch of redirects and does not link to some actual lists (those listed in the right column of this page). I am also not sure what is the relation with List of Monuments in Kathmandu, Nepal is; in any case, Kathmandu needs to be cleaned up.
  • Zones are not the actual administrative division any more, and the lists need to be regrouped anyway.
  • Possibly categories need to be reorganized. I mostly cleaned up duplicate cats, but more work is needed.
  • Wikilinks are badly needed for monuments, the more the better.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:23, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
