Nothing decided here should be implemented, the debate on these matters belong on the main collaboration talk page and not here. BritishWatcher (talk) 11:26, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- May I request that you add:
VOTE: The disambiguation page for Ireland
editThe disambiguation page for Ireland is currently located at [[Ireland (disambiguation)]]. Indicate your preference for this topic's location by signing your name with * ~~~~, under the relevant heading:
Stay at [[Ireland (disambiguation)]]
editMove to [[Ireland]]
edit- Also may I suggest that people be allowed to express a preference, as more than one option may be acceptable, though not preferred. (These suggestions are made in good faith.) -- Evertype·✆ 13:36, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- That extra option makes no sense, as it could produce contradictory results, while the status of the dab page would be determined by the other polls anyway. Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 17:18, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- I don't understand why you think it makes no sense. It's not much different from the way we rank preferences in national elections. Woulldn't PR work to sort out such a poll? I disagree about the dab page. Your poll suggests a binary choice—either Island should stay at Ireland or State should move there. But the third choice is to move Dab there, and rename both of the other two. I believe the third choice to be legitimate and within the norms of Wikipedia practice. So I re-iterate my request. -- Evertype·✆ 08:08, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

- Like I said ... adding this means Ireland could be voted as the location for the dab page, the island and the republic, doing it that way. The poll is based on a reading of the comments. No-one cares what's in the dab page per se, they care where the state and island are. Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 16:40, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree. Your poll does not offer the option that NEITHER island nor state is primary, in which case the dab page gets the simple name. This is common in Wikipedia, and indeed a number of participants in this long sad battle have indicated that dab=Ireland was a possible option. I don't find your resistance/refusal/reluctance to add the requested text to this poll to be in good faith. It sounds, rather, as though you want to limit the options on the poll, in a way which supports your preferrence. I don't think that is inclusive. -- Evertype·✆ 06:16, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- I don't particularly have a preference. Anyways, I've explained my own objection to your proposal ... you needn't worry though since if the Arbs or Arb moderators adopt the community poll option they will very likely make an independent decision on the poll's make-up. In fact, I will blank the page to relieve you of your concerns. Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 06:28, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
