Rivers
Certainly an area in which I don't know nearly as much as I'd like to and in which I feel Koreans' general knowledge is lacking, is the whereabouts of rivers in Korea. Do you think we could get something up and running? I've made a map of the Tancheon and appended it to that page, so that's a (tiny, granted!) start.JPBarrass 05:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- This has crossed my mind in the past... There are some (limited) sources of general information online, which coupled with the appropriate rifling of other online resources + printed gazetteers and atlases can turn up what we need for a proper set of C-class articles.
- In any case, I suggest that step one must be creating a much more comprehensive list at Rivers of Korea. -- Visviva 05:45, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- Good point - that's a pretty weak list at the moment. Thanks for pointing it out.JPBarrass 05:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Logo
Hey guys! Ran by only 2 people? Very impressive! How about making a logo for this project? I could make one and let you guys decide. And then we would post Wikiproject box on every discussion boards of every Korean cities and counties. (Wikimachine 01:48, 15 August 2006 (UTC))
Neglected
Maybe Visvia should put WikiProject South Korean counties and cities on his Korea Portal as a link. (Wikimachine 22:55, 22 October 2006 (UTC))
- Well, it's not my portal. ;-) But you're right that this project is in a sad state of neglect. -- Visviva 09:55, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Project directory
Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 15:30, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Galbijim links
Just a note to those that may only be watching this page: the issue of whether external links to the Galbijim Wiki are appropriate has been raised on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Korea. Please share your thoughts there. -- Visviva 11:57, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia Day Awards
Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 20:29, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Suwon
I did quite a bit of work on the Suwon page a while ago and several contributors have added material since then. I now feel that the article is no longer of the "Start" class currently attributed to it. I suggest that it is possibly a high B now, or maybe even an A? Any thoughts, anyone? Subway Stations
Thankfully, the recent proposal for 250 of the articles under our scope to be deleted has been quashed, but it does raise a reasonable point: that many of our articles have little beyond a sentence, so I'd like to encourage us all to gather information from the equivalent articles in Korean Wikipedia and expand our articles. This could help us avoid any such criticism in the future. An example of one I've been working on in this manner and which I think is now at a stage from which it's more viable as an article, is Sungkyunkwan University Station. If we could have something along the lines of the London Underground articles, that would be amazing. I know there are far many people there editing and researching, photographing and documenting, but we can at least aim for such a level and I'm sure we'll advance well and havea much more tenable position. interactive map
Is it possible to make a map of korea like the one on the geography of singapore with links on the individual provinces and subdivisions? I don't know how to do that. I would like to see this on the administrative divisions page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DaronDierkes (talk • contribs) 03:54, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
proper names
I've found myself up against a japanese user (I am American) on the Grand Korean Waterway page. He insists that I write "Sea of Japan (East Sea)." I find this absurd sense it is an article on a korean topic, so I hold to the East Sea (Sea of Japan format. I wish to push the point on [[Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean) ]] but nobody is responding to me. I'm sure they would respond if I changed the page though. Will any of you respond to me? gu articles
I propose to move 'gu' to 'district'. Gu is not a submunicipal level division, a municipal level division like si and gun in Administrative divisions of South Korea. Jungnang-gu have to move to Jungnang District as Donghae City, Gijang County. Sawol (talk) 05:09, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Except for Ilbangu like Paldal-gu because of submunicipal level, all Jachigu have moved. Sawol (talk) 19:37, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
Inactive?
I've suggested that this working group be marked as "Inactive" due to a lack of participation. If anyone is actively using this working group they may wish to comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Korea#Status of WikiProject Korea working groups. Thanks! PC78 (talk) 17:59, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
