Receptor heterodimers

edit

@Boghog + others: where would you suggest placing a (sub-)section on functional GPCR oligomers in articles on a particular GPCR? Seppi333 (Insert ) 18:13, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Tough question. If the heterodimers is comprised of two members from the same GPCR family (e.g., Adrenergic receptor), then the family article if it exists would be a good candidate. If the heterodimer is notable enough, it might justify its own article. I am not aware of any heterodimer GPCR articles, but there are a few ligand gated ion channel heteromer articles (e.g., Alpha-3 beta-4 nicotinic receptor). If the heterodimer has a "business end" (e.g., binds ligand and/or is primarily responsible for the activity and the partner is primarily responsible for modulating the activity of its partner), then it would make sense to add a heterodimer to the "business end" article. There's D1–D2 dopamine receptor heteromer, but I think that's the only article on GPCR heterodimers at the moment. Except in 1 case, I've only included lists of functional heterodimers that form in vivo in articles (e.g., Dopamine receptor#Receptor heteromers). I added coverage of the function/signigficance of the OX1-CB1 heterodimer in lateral hypothalamus#Orexinergic projection system/lateral hypothalamus#Function, although not (yet) in either of the Orexin receptor or cannabinoid receptor articles. I'm not entirely sure what section these lists should go under though. Seppi333 (Insert ) 19:48, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

The explanation on to which Wikidata item should be the article linked to

edit

Please consider the explanation at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Molecular_Biology/Style_guide_(gene_and_protein_articles)#Wikidata item on to which Wikidata item should be the article linked to. Should such proposal be inappropriate, please revert. Maxim Masiutin (talk) 10:10, 25 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Artoria2e5, Evolution and evolvability, JJMC89, what do you think about this proposal: Proposed guide on link to Wikidata item?

It makes sense to me, and to Infobox gene. I like it. Artoria2e5 🌉 14:43, 26 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Maybe we should add an explanation such as "Wikidata may have different entries for a protein and for a gene...". Or it is already understandable? Maxim Masiutin (talk) 14:55, 26 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
