Commonwealth Games
Many (maybe all) of the Commonwealth Games sites have been set up assuming there will be separate pages for (for example) Australia at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, Cayman Islands at the 1994 Commonwealth Games. It seems to me more sense to have just one for each country as seems to have been done to the Olympics.
wintersports
is there going to be a wikiproject for wintersports. Is i gong to go ahead because i can see it's been there since dec 2004 so is it just in a stand still or is some thing going to happen with it. I would like to see the project arise myself. On many of the snowsports pages i see redlinks which could be handled better if in a project, If not i would be happy to start up one with a template off another as i am not so experienced in wikipedia. Please speak to me can anyone help out. Edwardkindred
Request for Quick Sports Fix
Sometimes, if I'm of a mood to kill time and yet do some good, I'll hit 'random article' and see if the link that comes up needs any copyediting.
Ed Vosberg's article sez:
- Ed was the first player to appear in the Little League World Series Tucson, Arizona 1973 runner-up, NCAA Div I Champion University of Arizona 1980, and Major League Baseball World Series Champion Florida Marlins 1997
Okay, let's make it clear: I suck at sports. And sports knowledge. shrug (sorry)
Well, first, I'm not sure if "Little League World Series Tucson, Arizona 1973 runner-up" was a single sports event. Is this saying that he was the first individual to appear in all three teams? THat really doesn't appear to be that odd; it's like me saying I'm the first person to go to Joe Schmo Elementary School, Jane Schmo Junior High School, Frank Schmo High School, and Schmoville College. Well, yeah, few people usually pick all of the same organizations to belong to.
So, I suppose if any of you know Ed Vosberg, can you clarify what this sentence is really saying, and either answer me here or make the edit in the article itself?
If I've been unclear as to what I'm asking, let me know. — WCityMike (talk • contribs • where to reply) 19:51, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Request for Expansion
- 2006 World Outgames - are the first edition of the World Outgames and are set up as a rival series to the Gay Games. It's just about to start in a week (July 29-Aug 5 2006). It will need to be updated and improved daily.
Proposed policy clarification with respect to logos
- There has recently been some disagreement on what the intent of the policy is with respect to use of sports team logos. I have proposed a policy clarification on use of sports team logos at Wikipedia_talk:Logos#Clarification_on_use_of_sports_team_logos. Johntex\talk 18:39, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Notability
Always a controversial topic, I know... but are there any general guidelines as to what constitutes a notable sports club? The particular examples I'm thinking of here are most of the members of the Ontario Australian Football League after Central Blues went from prod to AfD and then got speedy deleted today, but any more general thoughts also appreciated. Cheers --Pak21 15:10, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- As a third-party editor I'm not interested in sports in the least. However, reviewing articles for wikipedia format guidelines is something that can be done. Even with this the bullet for sports under Wikipedia:Notability (people) is ambiguos and poorly written. If this section is not clear my only option is to avoid all biography articles related to sports. --meatclerk 02:02, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Infoboxes for sports leagues
Do we already have one? These leagues can use some infoboxes... --Howard the Duck 09:25, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
- Note that national soccer leagues aren't using this infobox. --Howard the Duck 16:43, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
WikiProject Cue sports

Template for [Sport] in [Location]
I'd like to see a generic template created for Sports in Locations. People have recently developed sports specific ones - see the Rugby overview template in Rugby union in Australia for example to be applied to pages such as Australian rules football in Australia or Football in England. It shouldn't just be for countries though - see Football (soccer) in Western Australia for example. The template should have the following info:
- First played
- Governing Body
- National Team
- Number of Participants (total and senior - over 18)
- Record Attendance
- Television (stations)
- Clubs & Competitions
- Major club comps
- Major representative comps
and other info etc
Thoughts ?

- Just to let you know, a user User:Grcampbell has done this, the template is Template:Sport overview --Spewmaster 03:31, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia Day Awards
Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 18:53, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
