Continuity/Writing removal

I was browsing through the episode pages and I'm noticing a lot of them have had their Writing/continuity/arc sig. sections severely abbreviated or removed entirely. I find those sections helpful and interesting, and the template still includes them as a desirable part of the article.

Hi i'm deadlego. I know this is probably the wrong place to put this so feel free to delete or move 'me'. I'm new to WP and need help. I. Really want to contribute to this project. I'm a massive buffyverse fan and have a lot of time on my hands at the mo. But i'm still working out how it all works and need some advice and don't know who to ask. Please help! Proposal: Community topic ban of nintendoman01

User:Nintendoman01 first came to my attention by repeatedly spamming categories to Buffy characters. He was blocked for a month for socking as User:Segafan01, and has subsequently behaved with respect to this behavior.

Lately he has been adding unsourced verbiage to various Buffyverse characters. User:Kingdom2 has explicitly asked him to refrain from this behavior on his talk page (User_talk:Nintendoman01#Your_Buffy_edits). Others, including User:Paul730, have also reverted his changes. He has been adding categories to redirects (e.g., Nina) a few of which I've just reverted.

Proposed That Nintendoman01 be topic banned from anything related to Joss Whedon's creative works, loosely construed, for a period of six months. While I realize that as an admin it's technically within my purview to unilaterally issue topic bans to individual users, I am WP:INVOLVED and will not take any such action unilaterally.

Justification for such a topic ban is that 1) Nintendoman01 has generally contributed material of poor quality to Buffy/Angel related articles, violating WP:NOR routinely even after instructed not to do so, and 2) Nintendoman01 has been uncommunicative, failing to discuss changes or constructively respond to requests that he alter his behavior.

Support While I am also involved, I do support this topic ban. As can be seen with my first comment on Nintendoman01's talk page, I pointed out where his edits were against Wiki policy and linked to the appropriate pages so that he could learn the policy more thoroughly. He ignored the post for two days, I questioned him on this, and then he took it personally rather than discuss the actual edits. This was after months of me reverting his verbose, OR-filled edits - all the while leaving edit summaries that apparently went ignored - without a single change in his editing behavior. kingdom2 (talk) 17:44, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure that a WikiProject can "ban" an editor from contributing (whether constructively or unconstructively) from a topic. This seems like a case for the noticeboards, where the Admins can decide on the appropriate actions.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 18:54, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

It should be noted, though, that several of his other topic edits seem to be similarly inappropriate. This just may be the only topic that actually came together to discuss Nintendoman's edits. kingdom2 (talk) 19:12, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm not saying action isn't warranted, just that I don't think a WikiProject can "ban" anyone. I mean, that starts to look a little inapropriate of this project. The proper place for this would be at the noticeboards, where the community as a whole can assess his actions and determine his fate. I mean, you'd have a hard time convincing an Admin to block him because the Buffy Project decided it should happen, and the editors of the project itself could get blocked for edit warring if they cannot show without a doubt that the edits are vandalism (which, looking at them, would be kind of hard....disruptive yes, but not obvious vandalism).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 19:37, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

I have no problem getting more eyes on it, so consider your suggestion adopted. But before we take it to AN/I, I'd like us to discuss the merits of such a topic ban. Been thinking about it since I posted it, and I think "six months, or until Nintendoman01 demonstrates a reasonable understanding of WP:WAF and WP:NOR and agrees to be guided by them" might be a better way of putting it. I don't want to squish the guy or shoo him away, I don't want to have to follow him around seeing what new lower quality material he's introduced. Good reference

I found this while working on a (non-Buffy related) article at AfD. It looks like it discusses the message/morale of a lot of episodes (I haven't gone through it entirely), but it would be great for putting some real world context into some of the articles.
