Large numbers of issues

Is there any procedure to add yourself and merely mention you have a certain selection of issues of a magazine? I subscribed to Nintendo Power for a long time when I was young, starting from issue 50 to maybe 150ish. I should have almost every single issue in that range (1993 - 2001/2002).

I could help in adding each of those (because of course everyone needs to know what's in those issues for it to be of much use), but this page would get even more ridiculously large :)

In any case, I have those issues, so if you can't contact other people that have them go ahead and try me; just leave a note on my talk page - TheBilly^Talk 16:24, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Have a look at the top of the Edge section and they put a similar bit of text at the top of the Nintendo Power section. If you can add the key articles for each issue that would be a help, I know how much of a ball ache it can be though ( I'm still recovering from all of the linking I had to do for Edge issue 80) - X201 (talk) 16:37, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Online Reviews

I was taking a look at the Game Informer site, and they post VG reviews online. Some WP articles cite these reviews for their Critical Response/Reveption sections. I was wondering, are the online reviews the same as the magazine ones? —Hydrokinetics12 (talk) 16:14, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

A lot of the time they come from the magazine, but you've really gotta watch it. Sites like ComputerAndVideoGames, which represent several publications, can be unclear as to which magazine the review comes from. And almost none of the magazine sites tell you the issue numbers or information like that. I suggest that, when you know the approximate year of the review, to hit the Internet Archive for the mag's website back around then and see if they have their reviews online. Otherwise, I'd say to make every effort to find the print edition of the magazine. —/Mendaliv/^2¢/_Δ's/ 15:31, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Response to Requests

What happens if someone has put his/her name on the WP:VG/M page and doesn't respond to magazine requests? I mean after several requests have been made, nearly a month has passed, and nothing, not even denying the request, is said in response? --Hydrokinetics12 (talk) 22:33, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Really don't know. Thought I'd just point out that sometimes its hard to establish contact w/ some contributors. Or maybe we need a more organized management system for reviews than having each user either put the review on his/her talk page or on the page of the asker. --Hydrokinetics12 (talk) 20:40, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

There's also the question about copyright, although I know next to nothing about the issue. I was going to post a review on User: Dihydrogen Monoxide's talk page, but he suggested that I e-mail him it with regards to copyright. Which, if copyright is an issue, should be the precedent. I don't think anything is stated on this project page about that though. In regards to the initial question, if the user won't respond, then that really is unlucky. Tacking on to this thread, it seems that there are a few magazine contributors who are no longer active. Mitaphane has been gone for nine months and Imaginationac has reduced his visits to once a month or has stopped by now. Should the listings be updated to reflect their status? Making finding magazines easier

Maybe this is interesting to someone here: To easily search all the different subpages of the magazine project, do this.

1. Bookmark this page
2. Right-click the bookmark and select "Properties"
3. Change the name to "WP:VG mag search".
4. Change the keyword to "vgm".
5. Now you can type something like "vgm Max Payne" in the Firefox adress bar to search all the different magazines that have articles so you don't have to browse all the different magazine pages. JACOPLANE • 2008-08-11 12:35

This works in Firefox, but I don't think it does in Internet Explorer. Opera has keyword searches the last time I used it (which was a while ago) but I can't recall if it uses the same method as Firefox. Gary King (talk) 00:45, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Need help finding PC Gamer UK article

Hi people. I am looking for the original PC Gamer UK article mentioned in this article. Joystiq is not considered a reliable source and I believe the information reported is interesting enough for inclusion in the System Shock 2 article. However, I cannot add the Joystiq reference with FAC requirements and such. The article is probably in an issue published in August of 2006. Any help is appreciated. The cutting on Joystiq is the piece in its entirety. Its from the magazine's gossip column so that may affect the notability of it. The magazine details for a citation are: September 2006, issue 165, page 20. The author of that particular page only ever writes under the pseudonym of The Spy. I have an original copy of the mag [[, and there's a (1.5MB) scan of the entire page here. I don't think it would scrape past WP:FU here, so I used imageshack - I'd like to take it down ASAP, so let me know when you've finished with it. The exact author of The Spy is unknown (it's The Spy who writes it...). Hi all, I'm in need of the Nov. 2003 issue of Computer Games Magazine, specifically the piece "Massively Multiplayer Roundup"; I need to verify and see the context of a quote used in Threshold (online game). Looking for someone with ACE (Advanced Computer Entertainment), a big UK mag that ran from the late '80s to the early '90s. Specifically, I'm looking for issue 15, from December 1988. Thief: The Dark Project CGW and PC Gamer reviews

Back again. Does anyone have the March 1999 issue of Computer Gaming World (issue 176), or the April 1999 issue of PC Gamer US? These two issues contain reviews of Thief: The Dark Project, which is undergoing a very successful collaboration. With CGW and PC Gamer US being the most prestigious and well-known PC game review sources of the late '90s, however, it's unlikely that the article could pass FAC without them. Security for MMOG's and virtual online communities - McAfee perspective

I ran into this 20-page white paper from McAfee about security for Securing Virtual Worlds Against Real Attacks: White Paper by Dr. Igor Muttik. "...we will discuss MMOG-based spam, phishing, adware, and spyware." It could be an interesting source (with attention to potential biases of a security company in promoting their field). WikiProject Resource Exchange

I just discovered the existence of WP:WRE and noticed that it had a subsection devoted to video games. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to put a {{main}} link into this subsection to lead interested parties to WP:VG/RL. Official Xbox Magazine Takashi Iizuka interview

Does anyone have access to the Official Xbox Magazine, I believe it must be in the May or June 2011 issue, probably the UK version that this site makes reference to? It is an interview with Takashi Iizuka, Sonic Generations currently uses a fan site source, and I'd like to attribute it to the magazine itself. Just need the issue and page number I believe. Normally you'd start at the Official Xbox Magazine library but that only seems to cover up to 2006. Additional online resources for this magazine can be found here, but I have not been able to locate the interview after a little basic searching. Hopefully someone else has a copy of the magazine and would be willing to share. Reference Library Donation

So I'll be moving in the near future and, while I enjoy contributing to this project, I don't think the reference library will be joining me in the move. I'd like to send it to a good home, but I have one problem. It's probably going to be pricey to move to any arbitrary location. The Reference Library, by my estimation, would need to fit in something like a 2' x 2' x 1' box and would weight around 250 lbs. Quick shipping estimates places that in the hundreds of dollars. I had one brave soul inquire once about scanning all the contents of NextGen a few years ago, the shipping estimates were about the same. The only way I see this happening is some fellow Wikipedian either wants to foot the cost of the shipping bill or happens to live in the Louisville area where I live. • At present the WP:VG Reference Library only has a single listing for Famitsu and it's for a different issue. I know there are others who have copies of Famitsu because I myself have a number from the 1993-2000 period that I plan to list later, but sadly this is a really quiet talk page. It's also at Internet Archive (not sure if the same version). There's quite a lot of magazines that are now available online. HCG's definitely on the list. Personally, I haven't made pages for them all, because without listing contents it's not that helpful. HCG doesn't seem to have content summary online, so it would only point to the PDF at this time. PS-themed book needed

I'd like to know if someone's got access to the duology of Pix'n Love books about the making of the PlayStation titled La Revolution Playstation or to Revolutionaries at Sony, an earlier work by the same author containing much of the same information. The reason why I'm after one of these is that they are chock-full of valuable info tidbits that I could use in beefing up an article about a certain early PS title. List of sales charts by PC Data, NPD, Chart-Track, etc.

I've been compiling a resource that provides quick access to old sales charts from a variety of sources—but mostly PC Data, at the moment. It's a work-in-progress and designed mainly for my personal use right now, but I'll probably create a WPVG/RL subpage for it at some point. Until then, it can be found at the link above. Maniac magazine

Maniac is a German gaming magazine started in the 90's, and for the last few years they've been uploading their reviews from their print magazine to their website. There's hundreds of reviews for games on the Saturn, PlayStation, and SNES. Many of the games reviewed don't have that many sources on WP, and putting them on their website makes them very easy to access. I opened a RS discussion on it, since the site doesn't seem to be used on WP much just in case. But I don't think there's any issues with the source. Harizotoh9 (talk) 12:25, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

Gemaga interview with Oji Hiroi

According to the comments regarding the most recent Sakura Wars FAC, there are some titles missing in the sources. I've found some of the titles in the Sega Saturn Magazine archives. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the titles in the Gemaga magazine at the moment. That said, I have a question: do you guys have any issues of Gemaga that have the interview with Oji Hiroi?
