This project page co-ordinates activities to improve articles and images related to research and curated by the Toodyay Museums.
Toodyaypedia is a WikiTown QRpedia project based around Toodyay, Western Australia. The project is a collaborative project between, Shire of Toodyay, Toodyay Historical Society and Wikimedia Australia the Toodyay Museums are working to add authoritative content to Wikipedia and to encourage other organisations in Western Australia to do the same.
The goal is to share Toodyay related information and stories with the world along with information about its people and places.
WP:WikiTown/Toodyaypedia says that "Toodyaypedia is a WikiTown QRpedia project", and QRpedia is defined as "a ... system which uses QR codes to deliver Wikipedia articles". This is consistent with the Shire's 2013-1014 Annual Report (various pages - search for "Toodyaypedia") which says (for example, p5) that "Under this project volunteers enter heritage and historical information on Toodyay’s buildings in Wikipedia."
The problem is that Wikipedia articles are using Toodyaypedia articles as references, but based on WP:WikiTown/Toodyaypedia the casual reader could easily think that Wikipedia was referring to itself, in violation of WP:CIRCULAR.
I'm not questioning Taylor's credentials, or the use of her work as a reliable source, but I suggest that:
Taylor is a subject-matter expert writing new material that is being published by the Shire, thus satisfying the requirements of WP:RS, WP:SOURCE.
The Shire's project is (also) called Toodyaypedia.
References in articles to the journal/series Toodyaypedia should link to the relevant section of WP:WikiTown/Toodyaypedia to explain the connection, eg:
Unless we have reason to believe that Street View is wrong (doesn't match the map / coords), I'd treat it as a reliable source. However, strictly speaking this is actually WP:SYN. Google doesn't mark the building as Everett's Cottage, and I'm deducing the coords from two sources - the article for the approximate location and what the building looks like, and Street View - neither of which says "Everett's Cottage is at these coords". (But I wouldn't remove the coords on those grounds if they were added.) Mitch Ames (talk) 12:02, 31 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
I notice that the coords do not appear on the article Everett's Cottage. Should they appear there automagically? Would it help if Wikipedia and Wikidata agreed on the casing of "cottage"?
