If anybody in your course is still looking for a topic to write about, I'd like to point out a few resources where you might be able to identify some potential topics:

• For literature of LGBT interest, check out the "potential new articles" section of WP:CANQUEER; there are a number of writers of colour and women on that list who, of course, would be especially welcome topics if possible — I'd especially like to highlight jia qing wilson-yang, Chase Joynt and Kai Cheng Thom, three transgender writers who just got Lambda Literary Award nominations last week, and thus might make for nice timely choices.
• If anybody's fluent in French and would be interested in helping to tackle our underrepresentation issues with Quebec writers, there are a lot of redlinks still present in articles such as Governor General's Award for French-language fiction or Prix Athanase-David — including some pretty major names (France Théoret! Paul Chamberland!) of longstanding urgency. I realize there may not be much of a market for this at UBC, but I'm listing it as an option anyway just in case.
