Original research
editWhy and where does this page contain original research? How should it be cleaned up? Hyacinth (talk) 09:16, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
- The statements about 'overcompensation' being an unhealthy response that does not address whatever the root problem is, and the supposed likely responses of Wikipedians to the alleged research findings do not appear in the reference cited. In fact, the reference article and the research report it is based on have nothing to say about how Wikipedians would be likely to respond to the findings. Therefore, the statement "The study predicts that Wikipedians would respond to its results with anger, denial, or disregard," is purely an extrapolation. The statement following this one is also clearly someone's opinion. Having said all this, I would like to add that I have read the original research report and noticed that the descriptive statistics given actually show that Wikipedians were higher NOT lower in openness to experience than non-members as the study claims, so the authors of the study are contradicting their own data. Unfortunately since this has not been pointed out in any published work as far as I know, I have let the authors' conclusions stand, much as I loathe to do so.--Smcg8374 (talk) 12:46, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
- It's weird, you seem to be reacting with denial. Hyacinth (talk) 01:42, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
- I've started a discussion at Template talk:Or#Use outside article namespace? regarding whether it is appropriate to use Template:Or outside the article namespace given that it categorizes pages with Category:Articles that may contain original research. Hyacinth (talk) 01:49, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
- Referring to my comments as "weird" does not seem polite.--Smcg8374 (talk) 04:32, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
