Background

edit

The International Egg Commission (IEC) was established in 1964 to establish eggs as a high-quality and readily available non-vegetarian food in the world. Currently the membership of this organization is 80.[2] The organization organized the first 'World Egg Day' in the year 1996 in Vienna, the capital of Austria, with the aim of meeting the demand for animal meat, building a healthy and talented nation and above all raising public awareness about the quality of eggs, which has since been celebrated every year on the second Friday of October.[3] Currently, 'World Egg Day' is celebrated in 40 countries around the world, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, India, etc.[4][5]
