World Poker Tour bracelet

The World Poker Tour bracelet is awarded to winners of the World Poker Tour (WPT). Its creation and tradition followed the introduction of a similar bracelet by the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

History

edit

In 1976, the World Series of Poker began awarding bracelets to winners of its events. WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack highlighted the significance of the WSOP gold bracelet to anyone who takes the game seriously" in 2006, comparing it to major sports trophies.[1] A poker player's success is often measured by the number of bracelets won.

Steve Lipscomb, founder of the WPT, noted the importance of the championship bracelet as a symbol of poker achievement.[2] While the champions of the first six seasons did not initially receive bracelets, they were awarded them at a special event at the Bellagio in Las Vegas on April 21, 2008.[3]

The bracelets are crafted from titanium and diamond by Tiffany and Company.
