Taxonomy
editThis species was described as Cicindela feredayi in 1867 by Henry Walter Bates from a female specimen collected in Canterbury.[2] It was most recently revised in 2013, in which it was moved to the Zecicindela genus.[1]
Description
editThe adults are recorded at 7.5-9.0mm in length. The head and thorax are coloured greenish black. The elytra is also greenish black with whitish markings dorsally. Much of the body is covered in white hairs.[1]
Distribution
editThis species is widespread throughout most of New Zealand.[1] The adults are known to occur from November to April. They occur at a range of altitudes on sandy pockets.[3]
