Max Purcell, Jordan Thompson, Henry Patten, Tim Pütz and Andrea Vavassori made their debuts in the doubles competition.

Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavić clinched the year-end ATP No. 1 doubles team ranking.[2] The pair of Arévalo and Pavić, Thompson, and Vavassori are still in contention for the year-end No. 1 doubles individual ranking. Nikola Mektić and the pair of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos were also in contention for the individual top ranking at the start of the tournament.

Kevin Krawietz and Pütz became the first all-German duo to reach the semifinals in ATP Finals history.[3]

Aged 44 years and 8 months old, Rohan Bopanna became the oldest man to win a match at the ATP Finals, with his win against Krawietz and Pütz in the final round-robin match.[4]
