Anogi (अनोगी),[3][4] located at 27°19'56.2"N 80°39'44.9"E,[5] is a village in Machhrehta block of Misrikh tehsil in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, India. It had a population of 3,326 as of 2011. It belongs to the Lucknow Division. As per 2009 stats, it is a gram panchayat. The village pin code is 261403 and postal head office is Aurangabad (Sitapur).

The total geographical area of the entire village is 435.52 hectares with a total population of 3,326 people. There are about 626 houses in the village. It is located 31 KM south from the district headquarters Sitapur, 13 KM from block Machhrehta, 18 km away from sub-district headquarter Misrikh (tehsildar office) and 70 KM from the state capital Lucknow.

Kakori, Gangapur, Gopalpur, Ralamau and Sarosa are few of the nearby villages. Anogi is surrounded by Machhrehta Block towards the north, Kasmanda Block towards the east, Bharawan Block towards the ssouth and Misrikh Block towards the west.

Sitapur, Sandila, Laharpur and Hardoi are the nearby cities to Anogi village.[6]

Kiran Bala Singh is the current village Sarpanch (प्रधान) and Gaurav Mishra is the Panchayat Secretary (पंचायत सचिव). Praveen Singh is the most prominent political figure of the village; as part of the Samajwadi Party, he served as the Block Head (ब्लॉक प्रमुख) of Machhrehta Block from 2011 to 2016. In March 2024, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and continues to work along with Ashok Rawat, the current Parliament Member from Misrikh.

Anogi village is divided into two parts. One part is primarily composed of Thakurs, who are engaged in agriculture and business activities. This group also holds political influence within the village and the surrounding areas, playing a significant role in local governance and economic activities.[citation needed] Significant figures from this group include Praveen Singh, who was the Block Pramukh of Machhrehta from 2011 to 2016, and Rana Pratap Singh, the husband of Sarpanch (प्रधान) Kiran Bala Singh.

According to the 2011 Census, the total population of Anogi is 3,326, comprising 1,760 males and 1,566 females. This results in an average sex ratio of 890 females for every 1,000 males.

The population of children aged 0–6 years in Anogi is 493, which constitutes 15% of the total population. Among these children, 255 are male and 238 are female. The child sex ratio, therefore, stands at 933 females for every 1,000 males, which is higher than the village's overall sex ratio.

The literacy rate in Anogi is 69.6%, significantly higher than the overall literacy rate of 50.9% in the Sitapur district. Male literacy in the village is 83.65%, while female literacy is 53.77%.

In terms of social composition, Scheduled Castes (SC) make up 47.2% of Anogi's population, while there are no Scheduled Tribes (ST) reported in the village.

In Anogi, Hindus are the largest religious group, with Muslims forming the second largest majority. The town also has significant populations of Christians and Sikhs.

Out of the total population, 1,380 were involved in some type of work. 61.4% of workers describe their work as "Main Work," meaning permanent employment or the job provided livelihood for more than 6 months of the year. Meanwhile, 38.6% of workers described their work as "Marginal" work, meaning the job provided livelihood for less than 6 months of the year. Of the 1,380 workers engaged in "Main Work," 342 were landowners (called "cultivators" by the Census), while 216 were agricultural labourers.[8]

Sri Hanuman Garhi and Panch Pandav Here large statue of  Lord Hanuman is situated.When in Tretayug Ahi Ravana took Shri Ram Lakshman ji to another world (Paataal), then, Shri Hanuman ji slaughtered Ahi Ravana. While bringing Shri Ram Lakshman ji on his shoulders, Makardhvaj changed their path, due to which Shri Hanuman ji appeared apparently in Naimisharanya. Here the Path of Sunderkand holds uncanny grandeur.
Mishrit This is another religious place situated 10 km away from Namisharanya. Maharishi Dadhichi  Asharam and Sitakund are holy pilgrimage of this place.
Shyamnathan Temple This Shiv Temple was built 300–400 years before and is situated in old Sitapur City.
