Aoi Itō (Japanese: 伊藤 あおい, Hepburn: Itō Aoi, born 21 May 2004)[1] is a Japanese tennis player. Ito has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 151, by the WTA achieved on 21 October 2024. She also has a career-high doubles ranking of No. 180, achieved on 16 September 2024.[2]

editIn September 2024, Ito won her third singles and eighth doubles ITF titles at the W50 in Nanao, Japan.[citation needed] On her WTA debut at the 2024 Japan Open,[3] where she qualified for the main draw, Ito reached her first WTA Tour semifinal defeating Sofia Kenin[4] and upsetting eighth seed Elisabetta Cocciaretto, for her first top 50 career win.[5] She then defeated lucky loser Eva Lys in the quarterfinals,[6] before losing in the last four to Kimberly Birrell.[7]
