During his second term, he was appointed to chair the House Education Committee.[2] He was elected to the Mississippi Public Service Commission in 2015 with 53% of the vote.[3] In 2019, he stated he wouldn't seek reelection.[4] In the 2019 general election, Republican Brent Bailey defeated Democratic candidate De'Keither Stamps to succeed Brown on the Commission.[5]
