Ajay Kumar Jha[1] was an soldier from Bihar who served with honor in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). He died on July 14, 2024, during an ambush by suspected militants in the Jiribam district of Manipur. Constable Jha was part of the 20th Battalion of the CRPF and was engaged in a search operation along with the state police when the militants launched their attack, leading to his death from a bullet wound to the forehead. His passing was widely mourned, with tributes paid by officials and the community.[2][3]
Career
editConstable Ajay Kumar Jha joined the CRPF in 2004. He was currently posted in 20 BN CRPF, Diphu, Assam. Due to shortage of soldiers, their battalion was sent to Manipur. His service to the nation was marked by his participation in challenging operations in regions affected by insurgency and conflict, such as Manipur. Unfortunately, his service ended on July 14, 2024, when he died during an ambush by militants in the Jiribam district of Manipur, leading to his death from a bullet wound to the forehead.[4][5]
Funeral
editAfter his Death, his body was airlifted to Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport, Patna, where a ceremony was held at the airport where last respects were paid to the soldier. After which, his body was taken to Banki village in Madhubani by road from Patna. His eldest son lit the pyre. He was cremated with state honours and was given a final farewell, with this he merged into the five elements. At the time of the last rites with military honors, many leaders, villagers and top officials including senior CRPF officials, Bihar government minister Sheela Mandal, MP Ramprit Mandal, DM and SP of the district were present.[6][7][8]
Family
editConstable Ajay Kumar Jha was the sole Earner of his family. He used to live with his wife, 2 sons, 1 daughter and his parents. He also had one more son and a brother, both of them had also died a few years ago.
