His passion for public service inspired him to pursue higher education in engineering, specializing in Electronics and Telecommunication, at the Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, where he graduated with distinction, achieving an 81% overall score. During his studies, he developed strong leadership and management skills. In 1998, he excelled in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), securing the 10th position with a remarkable 99.8 percentile. Career

Upon clearing the rigorous civil services examination, Akash Tripathi joined the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS) [1] as a probationary officer in 1999, beginning his journey in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. He has held numerous key positions across various districts and departments throughout his illustrious career, consistently demonstrating exceptional competence and leadership. As CEO of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) in Dhar, he initiated the Dhar Vermi Compost project, empowering women Self Help Groups (SHGs) and increasing vermicompost production to 3,000 metric tons, fostering economic empowerment and sustainable organic farming. During his decade-long tenure as District Magistrate (DM) across four districts—Balaghat, Morena, Gwalior, and Indore —he implemented transformative initiatives that significantly enhanced public welfare and infrastructure. In Balaghat, his “Lac Se Lakhpati” program enabled over 3,000 BPL families to generate additional income through Lac bug rearing, and he developed all-weather roads in Naxalite-affected blocks. In Morena, he took decisive action against the mining mafia, effectively curbing illegal mining activities.

In Gwalior, he launched campaigns to combat food adulteration and fraudulent chit-fund companies[2] and established the "Janmitra Samadhan Kendras"[3] providing essential services to hundreds of thousands of residents. In Indore, he transformed the infrastructure of the Khajrana Ganesh Temple, redirecting religious donations to fund social causes like affordable dialysis services, and bolstered urban connectivity through the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) and Atal Indore City Transport Service Limited (AICTSL), promoting both interstate and intercity transport[4].

Akash Tripathi is serving as the CEO of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM)[5], CEO of MyGov.in[6], and Managing Director and CEO of the Digital India Corporation (DIC) [7]under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, where he continues to drive transformative initiatives in India’s digital landscape[8].

He has also been honored for Best Electoral Practices by the Election Commission of India and received the President’s Award for the Rehabilitation and Welfare of Persons with Disabilities. Additionally, he was awarded the Power Ministry's Saubhagya Award, recognizing his efforts in achieving 100% household electrification, with a grant of 100 crores rupees for the west DISCOM[8]. Akash Tripathi Tripathi has received the Dainik Bhaskar India Pride Award[10] and has been recognized with the State e-Governance Excellence Award five times, among many other accolades.
