Bloggers are people mostly known for writing regularly for an online journal or website whiles on the other hand Youtubers are creators mostly known for sharing their work in a form of video on the YouTube platform. The rise of digital media has the landscape of content production in Ghana.
The Rise Of Digital Content Creators
editSmartphones and internet access contributed to the growth of digital content creation and influencing the growth of the socio-economic market.[1] Capitalizing on that, these bloggers and youtubers have made a good use of it to reach broad audiences, both locally and internationally. This approach has been particularly effective and have used their influence to promote products and services.[2]
Influence And Reach
editBloggers like Ameyaw Debrah, Kobby Kyei, Edward Asare, Amoaning Samuel have influenced and impacted the Ghanaian industry in so many way. On Tuesday, June 22 2021, Ameyaw Debrah added his voice on how musicians can do without all the wrangling with the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) about royalties if they take advantage of digitization.[3]
Similarly, Wode Maya, a Ghanaian youtuber with his influence was used as a case study at Strathmore University located in Kenya.[4]

editIn 2018, Avance Media a PR & Rating firm introduced an annual research ranking named Top 50 Ghanaian Bloggers. They rank Ghanaian bloggers from different sectors such as entertainment, lifestyle, education, fashion, technology, health, relationship etc using estimated traffic data & social media influence as key indicators.[5]
