Dr Blossom Kochhar is an aromatherapist who, with her family, built the leading beauty and wellness brand, Aroma Magic. She is also an international teacher of beauty and hair and started her journey with the establishment of Blossom Kochhar College of Creative Arts and Design to train people for skill development and empowerment in India.

She is also a Member of the Governing Council of the Beauty and Wellness Sector Skills Council, NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation).

She is the Indian President of prestigious international bodies like Organization Mondiale Coiffure (OMC) - Paris India and Inter Coiffure Mondial- Paris (ICD). She is also the president of the National Hairdressers Association (NHBA), a premier association set up by her.


Early life

Dr Blossom Kochhar was born on 27 December 1947 in Chennai, India as Blossom Joseph Otter. Due to plagued conditions during the time of her birth, her parents moved to states of coffee and tea plantations in the Nilgiris, when she was barely a month old. Her father, who was formerly British Army personnel, fell in love with the beauty of Nilgiris hills and joined the coffee and tea estates, making them his family’s abode.

She completed her double doctorate in aromatherapy.[4] Her husband, Late Col. Virender Kochhar who served as a colonel in the Indian Army, supported her towards her dream of contributing aromatherapy to the world of beauty and wellness in India.


Career

After the birth of her daughter, Dr Blossom Kochhar started her career as a beautician - opening her first salon in the cantonment of Wellington. Her quest to give her clients a different beauty experience led her to experiment with essential oils, which were so abundantly available in the Nilgiris. This is where she first started making her products.

She has been awarded with double Doctorate in Aromatherapy. She has also mastered many alternate therapies including Reiki, Pranic healing, NLP, EFT, colour therapy, crystal therapy and kinesiology which complements aromatherapy. Her vast exposure to these fields has helped her adopt a holistic approach to the use of aromatherapy for mind, body and soul.

She continues to learn and acquire international certifications like CIDESCO beauty, CIDESCO Makeup CIDESCO aromatherapy and many more.
