Carlo Rino Group Berhad (KLSE: CRG 03016) is a fashion brand specialising in handbags, wallets, footwear, and fashion accessories. Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia[1], the company operates 39 stand-alone boutiques nationwide as of 2024.[2] The company markets products under two main brands: Carlo Rino, which focuses on handbags, wallets, footwear, and accessories, and C.Rino, which offers a range of sunglasses​.

History

Carlo Rino was established in 1986 by Chiang Sang Sem, who initially served as the group's executive chairman. The company began with the design, manufacturing and wholesale distribution of leather goods.[3]

In 2018, Dato’ Sri Chiang Fong Yee was appointed as Group Managing Director marking a new era for the fashion brand[4]. In the same year, Carlo Rino was was listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now Bursa Malaysia) with the ticker KLSE: CRG (03016).

The brand has since expanded its presence in Malaysia and to the broader Southeast Asia region.

In 2024, the Carlo Rino announced the construction of their first flagship store in Kuala Lumpur, further solidifying it's presence in the fashion retail market.[5]

Collaborations and Special Collections

In 2022 Carlo Rino partnered with Warner Bros. to release several collections inspired by popular cartoon characters:

  • Looney Tunes collection, featuring popular characters like Bugs Bunny, Tweety, and Daffy Duck.[6]
  • 80 Years of Tweety collection, released in 2022 to celebrate the iconic character's anniversary.
  • Harry Potter edition, introduced in 2023, featuring designs inspired by the book and film series.
  • The Powerpuff Girls collection, launched in 2024, blending fun and nostalgia for fans. [7]

In addition to its collaborations with Warner Bros., Carlo Rino teamed up with Malaysian actress Hannah Delisha to release the Spring Summer Raya Collection x Hannah Delisha in 2024.[8] This collaboration aimed to blend contemporary fashion with traditional Malaysian festive styles, catering to the local market.

IPO and Listing on Bursa Malaysia

Carlo Rino Group Berhad filed for an initial public offering (IPO) in 2024 as part of its strategy for growth.[9] The company entered into an agreement with TA Securities to facilitate its transfer to the ACE Market on Bursa Malaysia, which is anticipated to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2024.[10][11]

Social Responsibility: Carlo Rino Scholarship

In line with its commitment to social responsibility, Carlo Rino partnered with University of Malaya in 2023 to establish the Carlo Rino Scholarship. This initiative provides financial support to students pursuing higher education in the arts aiming to foster creativity among young Malaysians.[12]
