Delft Hyperloop is a student team of the Delft University of Technology that is focused on researching and developing the hyperloop.[1] The team consists of approximately 40 members and is located at the TU Delft Dream Hall. Every year, Delft Hyperloop participates in the European Hyperloop week, which is a hyperloop competition for student teams from all over the world.[2]

History

edit

Delft Hyperloop was founded in 2015, after the start of the Hyperloop pod competition was announced. The hyperloop pod competition was a yearly event that took place between 2015 and 2019. This international competition was organized by SpaceX as a result of the white paper of Elon Musk[3], in which the hyperloop concept was introduced. In 2019 the hyperloop pod competition came to an end, after which Delft Hyperloop, together with Swissloop, Hyperloop UPV and HYPED founded the European Hyperloop Week. The European Hyperloop Week is a yearly competition with the goal of accelerating the implementation of the hyperloop. Student teams from all over the world can participate in this competition and apply for awards in various categories.
