Ewan Murray (born November 25, 2004) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a left back for Dundee.[1]
Career
editMurray was among a host of youth players who joined the academy of Dundee in September 2019.[2]
In September 2020, Murray received special dispensation to play for the Dundee senior team in a friendly against Peterhead despite being under 16.[3] He would later score the opening goal in a 4–0 friendly win again against Peterhead, and be named Man of the Match.[4] In October 2020, Murray made his debut for Dundee in a Scottish League Cup group stage match against Cove Rangers, coming off the bench late on in a 3–0 win.[5]
On 25 November 2020 on his 16th birthday, Murray signed his first professional contract with Dundee, keeping him with the club until 2023.[6] In 2021, after nearly going on loan with Kelty Hearts,[7] Murray joined Midlands League side Lochee United on loan until January 2022.[8] In January, Dundee extended Murray's loan with Lochee to run until the end of the season.[9] While with the Blue Bells, Murray would win the East Region Junior League Cup.[10] In May 2022, Murray signed an extension with Dundee which would keep him there for another season.[11]
On 13 August 2022, Murray joined Scottish League One side Peterhead on loan.[12] He would make his debut the same day away to Falkirk.[13] Murray returned to his parent club in January 2023.[14] In March 2023, Murray joined Highland League club Keith on loan until the end of the season, and made his debut on 25 March against Forres Mechanics.[15]
On 12 August 2023, Murray joined Highland League reigning champions Brechin City on loan until January 2024.[16][17] He made his debut later that day as a substitute in Brechin's league win over Brora Rangers.[18] Murray scored his first goal for Brechin on 16 December in a home league win over Huntly.[19] Murray returned to his parent club at the end of his spell in January.
