Falguni Banerjee (born 7 February 1962) is an Indian actor who works mainly in Bengali cinema. Though he has starred in parallel films like Nawab, Sangharsha, Shaitan, Mahaan, Tulkalam, Sesh Pratiksha, and romantic films like Sathi and Sangee, he is particularly known for appearing in action films such as Dai Daitya, Danob, etc.

Early life

Falguni was born on 7 February 1962 in Purba Bardhamman, West Bengal, into the Banerjee Bari at Badamtala. He is the grandson of West Bengal's Inspector-General of Police, Upananda Mukherjee. His nickname is Falguni. He studied at the Burdwan Raj College and later at the University of Calcutta.

Career

Falguni started his career with Bengali director Sachin Adhikari's film Nayanmoni (1989). He then became popular in the 2000s and featured in many films like Nawab, Sathi, Protibad, Sangee, Dristi, Korno, Uddhar, Atonko, Mohan, and Sopno.

Since the 1989 film Nayanmoni by Sachin Adhikari, he has started working on action roles. Then he also worked with many senior artists like Utpal Dutta, Soumitra Chatterjee, Victor Banerjee, Supriya Devi, Gita Dey, Sandhya Roy, Ranjit Mallick, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Om Puri, Anupam Kher, Amjad Khan, Sakti Kapoor, Shoma Anand, etc. He worked with many popular and one of the finest directors like Tapan Sinha, Anjan Choudhury, Haranath Chakraborty, Sachin Adhikari, Milon Bhoumik, Taba Mallick, etc. He also did many TV serials like Tritiyo Pandav, Bijoya, Jaal, Bispantor, Tomosa Rekha, etc.

He is also seen for doing many social activities, like a foot march on the occasion of the 25th Boishak, the birthday of the Biswa Kobi Rabindranath Tagore and the Independence Day of India on the 15th of August.
