Foster is an upcoming animated musical fantasy comedy film directed by Karen Disher and Steve Martino, and screenplay by Robert L. Baird and Lloyd Taylor. The film stars Micah Abbey, Bella Thorne, Chris Tucker, John Kani and Tom Hiddleston.

Production
editOn February 12, 2018, it was announced that Karen Disher and Steve Martino would co-direct a animated fantasy musical for Blue Sky Studios under the working title Foster with Tim Federle writing the script, Bruce Anderson, Gillian Carr, Marc Platt, and Lori Forte producing the film, and Pasek and Paul to write the songs.
Cancellation
editIn April 2021, film was permanently cancelled after Blue Sky Studios shut down.
Revived by Netflix and Annapurna Animation
editIn December 2024, it was announced that Annapurna Animation and Netflix had picked up Foster earlier in the year, and would be releasing on its streaming service on June 26, 2026. Animal Logic was announced as the project's animation partner.
Casting
editIn April 2025, Micah Abbey, Bella Thorne, Chris Tucker, John Kani and Tom Hiddleston were added to the cast.
Music
editFoster was Christophe Beck's second feature film collaboration with Annapurna. Beck while songs are written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
Release
editFoster was released on June 26, 2026. It was scheduled to release on March 5, 2021, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures through their 20th Century Studios banner.
