Hernando González Acosta (Colombia 20th cent.- Riochiquito, Cauca 1965) was a Colombian Communist political leader and youth activist.[1]
Biography
editHe was a student activist at the Free University of Colombia of Bogotá and a member of the Colombian Communist Youth (JUCO). In 1964, JUCO's Central Executive Committee highlighted him as the political commissar of the armed movements of Riochiquito, Cauca, participating together with Luis Morantes (Jacobo Arenas) in the founding of FARC in the Marquetalia Republic in Planadas, Tolima.[2][3] He received a 'nombre de guerra' of "Leovigildo Rodríguez".[1]
Death
editOn September 22nd 1965, he was killed in a military ambush in Riochiquito, Cauca.[1]
Memorials
editIn his memory, JUCO's Bogotá branch,[4] the 6th Front of the FARC-EP,[5][6] and a FARC-EP school in the Eastern Bloc were named after him.[7]
