––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––Hisako Hara was born on August 6th, 1909, in Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture as the youngest of four children. Her father died when she was 6 years old.

After graduating from Fuji girls High School, she moved to Tokyo and was adopted by her uncle and aunt. Her uncle worked as an engineer for a company but ran a Boarding School and Coffee Shop near the University of Tokyo as well. Hana helped with the family business at the same time whilst studying Nagauta and Ikebana to prepare for her future as a bride.

in 1933, Hana saw an advertisement in the newspaper for a position at the Zenshinza Theater and applied for it. At the same time, she had no intention on being an actress, but just a backstage worker. Hana was surrounded by beautiful women, as the position was for an actress, and said she felt like running away. However, the examiners passed her for her honesty about, "not being able to do anything". Her uncle and older sister allowed for her to become an actress, however, her older brother, a banker in Shizuoka, strongly opposed it.

Her debut was in "Gyu Wo Kuu," as a town girl, at Shinbashi Enbujo Theater, with her first salary being 15 yen. After that, she took the stage name Hara Hisako and appeared on stages such as Kabuki, Mata Tabimono, and contemporary drama. In particular, she played the role of Takuboku's wife in the contemporary drama ``Ishikawa Takuboku,'' which was well-received. She has also appeared in movies of the Zenshinza unit. Her first film appearance was in ``Machi no Tattooist'' (machinoirezumimono) in 1935 (Showa 10),[4] where she dubbed the voice of Kunitaro Kawarazaki, who appeared as an onnagata.[2] In 1937 (Showa 12), she appeared in director Sadao Yamanaka's posthumous masterpiece ``Ninjo Paper Balloon.''[2]

In 1938, she married actor, Ishijima Fusataro, who was also affiliated with Zenshinza.
