Horizon Sun Charters is a seaplane operator in the Philippines, based in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The company provides scenic tours, private resort transfers, and island-hopping flights in northern Palawan using a de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver floatplane.[1][2][3]

History

[edit]

The company was founded in 2015 by Swiss-Canadian pilot Raymond Schwab.[4] After flying internationally in Canada, Madagascar, Indonesia, Switzerland, Afghanistan, and Papua New Guinea, Schwab settled in Palawan and acquired a 1957 de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver. The aircraft, shipped from Canada, was restored and entered on the Philippine civil aircraft register in 2015.[1]

It took six years to complete certification with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines. Horizon Sun Charters began commercial operations in 2022, providing seaplane services around Palawan.[1]

Operations

[edit]

Horizon Sun Charters operates out of Puerto Princesa and Busuanga (Coron).[2] Its flights include scenic tours over Coron Bay and Honda Bay, and transfers to island resorts such as El Nido.[3]
