Regarding Shirazlb
[edit source]Hello @MCE89,
Congratulations on becoming an administrator! I have a question, do you think this account should be blocked, or would it be better to be checked? --Wassimtalk 06:47, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks @وسيم! Sorry but I'm not really able to look into this right now — feel free to make a report at SPI if you think there's a violation of the sockpuppetry policy that needs administrative attention here. MCE89 (talk) 17:45, 30 July 2026 (UTC)

Comment
[edit source]Hello, MCE89,
I just wanted to make a comment to you, MCE89. When I work on Wikipedia, I have hundreds of tabs open for days (sometimes weeks) and I had User talk:20SS00 open becauase I was looking at some of their past category creations. When I came back to look at their user talk page days later, I noticed that they had retired several years ago but had a very long User talk page with tons of CSD notices. So I went into edit and decided to delete everything up to Mason's latest CSD notice and published the edit. It was only after I refreshed the screen did I see your comment about sockpuppetry. If you think our actions conflict, I can undo my edit but I really wasn't aware of the work you were doing at SPI and suspicions about them being a sockmaster. I just thought I'd reach out and explain as I didn't intend to step on your toes. It's crazy that this account has been inactive for over 3 years and we were both editing their User talk page within the same hour and a half. Liz Read! Talk! 02:54, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
Regarding your closure at SPI
[edit source]MCE89, regarding your closure at SPI, I'm positive that they are Trigarta. No two people can edit in same manner, down to using same wording and especially when they are restoring sockmaster's edits, no matter how much the topic concerned is prone to attract people with a similar POV. I have some off wiki evidence as well for them being Trigarta but I'm not sure if and where it's suitable to be presented. Can you please reopen the SPI and/or leave it to another checkuser/administrator to determine? Sutyarashi (talk) 05:03, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Sutyarashi, if you have off-wiki evidence that this user is Trigarta you can send it to the checkuser team privately through one of the methods at WP:CONTACTCU. I and another SPI clerk both looked at the case and didn't find the behavioural evidence sufficient for a sockpuppetry finding on its own. If there's further on-wiki evidence I'm happy to take a look, and if you have off-wiki evidence of a connection you're welcome to send it to the checkuser team. MCE89 (talk) 05:15, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Do I need to file another SPI? Sutyarashi (talk) 06:21, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Fwiw, Zenithxxx has been still restoring Trigarta's version at Gandhara, also note inclusion of terms like Pothohar Plateau by both Trigarta and Zenithxxx into lede. Sutyarashi (talk) 06:41, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Sutyarashi, there's no need to file another SPI if your new evidence is off-wiki. You can send the off-wiki evidence to the checkuser team privately and they will take action or ask you to file a new SPI report if needed. If there's further on-wiki evidence then you're welcome to make a new report, but my advice is still that you'd need to present stronger evidence than what you've shown so far to justify a sockpuppetry block solely on behavioural evidence. Continuing meatpuppetry
[edit source]Hello MCE89 - you previously provided an assessment of probable meatpuppets connected with User:Serio31 (talk page). Further participation occurred with a new user Halloran today shown in this discussion.
Several editors on different articles are supporting the unconventional hypothesis in this publication from the Univ of Texas-Austin about a tendinopathy they call "mucoid degeneration". In my view, this is a COI violation and WP:PROMO for a clinical point of view not widely accepted in medicine.
I have not stepped into personal "outing" and will avoid this carefully (although unwise use of personal names for WP user names reveals their common location).
Wanted you to be aware of my position, and that I am observing the continuing activity of editors associated with Serio31 collaborating offline to promote the idea of mucoid degeneration with this one hypothesis publication. Will watch for your advice here.
Cheers! Zefr (talk) 03:36, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Zefr. Thanks for the update on this. Given that the new account has disclosed their off-wiki connection to the others, I don't think meatpuppetry sanctions are warranted just yet. If these accounts start working together in a way that would be inappropriate if they were a single user, such as casting multiple !votes in a consensus-building discussion or restoring each other's edits in a way that would amount to edit warring for a single user, that would likely be a violation of the meatpuppetry policy and might require admin action. Let me know if the off-wiki coordination does start to be used to gain an upper hand in an on-wiki dispute in that way - until then you can treat them essentially as if they were a single user for Wikipedia's purposes.
- The COI concern here is a separate issue and seems like a valid one, although it's probably not one that I'm best-equipped to handle. My suggestion would be to consider making a report at WP:COIN, or if you think your report would require linking these users to personal information that they have not disclosed on-wiki, you can make a report privately to WP:COIVRT.
- Hopefully that helps somewhat - let me know if there's anything else I can do. MCE89 (talk) 05:03, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

Thank you today for Wild Australia Show, "about a troupe of Aboriginal performers that toured Australia in 1892 and 1893. The troupe was assembled by a man named Archibald Meston, inspired by shows like Buffalo Bill's Wild West, for what was intended to be a world tour concluding at Chicago's World's Columbian Exposition. Ultimately the troupe ran out of money before leaving the country, resulting in an ugly legal battle between Meston and his business partner. While it's a fairly obscure episode in Australian history, it's one that I found fascinating to write about, and I think the story of their tour reveals a lot about the experiences and treatment of Aboriginal people across different parts of Australia in this era."! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:30, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
Good article nominations RfC
[edit source]Hi MCE89,
There is an ongoing Request for Comment (RfC) at Wikipedia:Good article nominations/August 2026 RfC, which you may be interested in because in the past year, you have nominated or reviewed more than one good article nomination. This message has also been sent to all subscribers to the Good Article Gazette. The RfC contains many proposals (33 at the time of writing), which are split into the following categories: nominators, reviewers, reviews, volunteer roles, reviewing initiatives, and others. However, you are more than welcome to add any proposals of your own that you wish to put to the community.
By the end of September, all the proposals will have been closed by an uninvolved editor, either as a consensus for one of the options or with no consensus. At this point, editors will be invited again to develop these proposals into coherent policy and implement them.
Thank you for your contributions to the good articles project, and I look forward to your input! (in solidarity), JacobTheRox(talk|contributions) 16:02, 11 August 2026 (UTC)

Possible connection to Andsybak
[edit source]Hi MCE89, Once again, thank you for your efforts on this case. Concerning Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/~2026-44158-66, I have found evidence suggesting that the disruptive editing pattern may be connected to the user Andsybak. The behavioural similarities and timing of edits indicate a possible link. If you have time, please also review their contributions: Special:Contributions/Andsybak. revision deletion on violence against indigenous people
[edit source]thanks for the revision deletion there, by the way- i wanted to let you know i (not thinking through my edits) put references to the content you deleted in both my aiv report and my rpp. i went back and removed it after reading a relevant guideline, but i wanted to let you know that references to it are still available through the page histories of those two pages, in case you want to reversion delete those too. my bad and im sorry, thanks again. Regarding Sunrun
[edit source]Hi, On the talk page of Sunrun , a new user named User:Pgoyalsunrun appeared to request an edit to the infobox of Sunrun, identical to what Itsjaskrn and Kashishsunrun did, but at the same time I think this may not be a sockpuppetry because (providing details in mail to not WP:OUTING) BengalMC (talk) 05:50, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- @BengalMC - feel free to make a new SPI report if you think that they are the same person as Itsjaskrn/Kashishsunrun and not a Sunrun employee named Pranay Goyal as they have claimed on their userpage. I'd probably be inclined to assume that they're telling the truth for now, but I haven't looked into the situation closely so you're welcome to make a report at SPI if you think it needs investigation. MCE89 (talk) 06:31, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- @MCE89 Gonna keep a watch on it for now, if this user does something further, I might rule it out as Meatpuppetry BengalMC (talk) 07:08, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- and regarding Chewy, I am convinced its him as per BengalMC (talk) 07:09, 18 August 2026 (UTC)

Organized Labour September Editing Event
[edit source]
You're invited to join the Organized Labour community editing event, a cross-wiki event taking place throughout September 2026!
The campaign brings together Wikimedians interested in improving coverage of organised labour, workers, trade unions, and labour history. We have confirmed collaborations with Wikipedia language editions in English, Dutch, Persian, Serbo-Croatian and French. If you want to add other language editions or other wiki projects you are strongly encouraged to do so! This event spans geography and languages!
This is a one-time invitation. You're receiving it because you previously signed a petition related to Wiki Workers United (WWU). We hope you'll join us!

Sorry for adding a comment after you closed the case; I was section editing so didn't see the edit conflict. I usually deal with actual spam rather than covert UPE editors, so I don't really know how to tell whether my comment was in any way helpful, but I figured there's no harm in pointing out the other TAs. lp0 on fire () 16:16, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- No problem at all @lp0 on fire, definitely a helpful comment to add! There's obviously not much I can do about that particular TA given that they don't have an attached en.wiki account, but still useful to know for future that this operator is using TAs and that there's cross-wiki activity. Thanks for all the excellent anti-spam work that you do - if you ever have UPE/SPI questions or are interested in getting more involved at SPI please do let me know :) MCE89 (talk) 03:02, 20 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks! I've been somewhat inactive recently, but when I get back to full activity I'd love to learn more about SPI/UPE stuff. Thanks to you also for all your work at SPI and elsewhere. lp0 on fire () 21:07, 20 August 2026 (UTC)

AfC August Backlog Drive: Only ten days left!
[edit source]
Hi MCE89, thanks for participating in the Articles for Creation August Backlog Drive! We've done amazing work so far, dropping the backlog by more than 3000 drafts already. We have around 1300 drafts outstanding, and we need your help to get that down to zero in the next 10 days. We can do this, but we need all hands on deck to help make it happen – if everyone who signed up to the drive reviewed just 1–2 drafts a day for the next ten days, we'd be down to zero in no time! A list of the pending drafts can be found at WP:AFCSORT, where you can select submissions in your area of interest, or you can find a random submission here. Thank you so much for your work so far, and happy reviewing! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:20, 21 August 2026 (UTC)
