Isabeau Miller is an American entrepreneur, songwriter, writer, television personality, and professor at Berklee College of Music. She is known for her participation in season 4 of the reality television show The Biggest Loser and for her songwriting collaborations, including work with David Archuleta.[1] Miller has also contributed articles to publications such as MindBodyGreen, Hello Sunshine, and Elite Daily.[2]
Early Life
editIsabeau Miller was born and raised in Mashpee, Massachusetts. She graduated from Mashpee High School and subsequently attended Berklee College of Music, where she completed her studies in 2006. After graduating, Miller moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in music and entrepreneurship.[3]
Appearance on The Biggest Loser
editIn 2007, Miller appeared as a contestant on season 4 of NBC's The Biggest Loser. She competed on the Black Team, led by trainer Jillian Michaels, and reached the finale as one of four finalists, ultimately placing fourth.[4] Following her appearance on the show, Miller was featured on Live with Larry King and appeared on the cover of Prevention Magazine in two issues.
Entrepreneurship
editAfter her time on The Biggest Loser, Miller became certified as a personal trainer and founded Rock Hard Body and Soul, a wellness business that offered fitness retreats, known as “fitcamps,” designed for short-term wellness immersion. In 2013, she co-founded Beckon, a hospitality and property management company based in Nashville.[5]
Writing and Authorship
editIn 2013, Miller self-published a pregnancy workbook aimed at birthing parents to track and document their health and experiences throughout pregnancy. She has also contributed articles on health, wellness, and personal growth to MindBodyGreen and Elite Daily, sharing insights into her personal life and professional experiences.[6]
Songwriting, Podcasts, and Producing
editMiller has reportedly written over 1,500 songs, with some recorded by artists, including David Archuleta.[7] In 2020, Miller launched two podcasts: Two Inc., co-hosted with her husband Shaun Balin, which discusses the dynamics of professional partnerships between spouses, and Sparkplug Kids, a motivational podcast for children. In 2023, Miller joined as a producer for the Broadway musical How to Dance in Ohio, which features a largely neurodivergent cast.[8]
Professorship
editIn 2023, Miller began teaching at Berklee College of Music, where she serves as a professor in the Songwriting Department and also teaches in the Music Business Department.[9]
Personal Life
editMiller resides in Mashpee, Massachusetts, with her husband Shaun Balin and their three children.[10]
