Pearls of the Sound is a show and competition choir with about 50 members who mainly sing barbershop. The choir's home town is Helsingborg, but for many years they have competed internationally with great success.[1]
Organization
editPearls of the Sound are members of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization with about 23,000 singers distributed in about 25 regions, 500 choirs and 1,200 quartets. Pearls is part of the subgroup Nordic Light Region, which consists of about 20 choirs and about 35 quartets.[1][2]
History
editPearls of the Sound was formed in 1987 by Lars Holmström and has since 1988 been (and still is) a competing choir with several fine medals won.[1]
Conductors
editThe choir has been led since 2004 by the conductor Anna Rosenberg Adlerstam and in January 2015 the choir also got a co-conductor in Rasmus Krigström. Both Anna and Rasmus also act as judges in their respective organizations, Anna as a judge in the "visual communication" category in Sweet Adelines International (SAI) and Rasmus as a judge in the "music" category in the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS).[1]
Competition successes
editThe biggest successes in recent years are the WC Harmony Classic (Division AA) 2016 in Las Vegas and the WC Harmony Classic (Division A) 2013 Hawaii, both of which resulted in first place in the WC.[3]
