Phariha is a village located in the Azamgarh district of the Uttar Pradesh state in India. This village holds significant importance due to its strategic location at a chowk (intersection) where four major routes converge.
Geography
editPhariha is situated 250 km away from the state capital, Lucknow, and 802 km from the national capital, New Delhi.
Transportation
editPhariha's chowk connects the village to various major routes:
- One route leads from Phariha to Shahganj, Jaunpur.
- Another route connects to the NH 233 highway, a four-lane road that runs from Lumbini, Nepal to Varanasi.
- One route connects Phariha to Nizamabad.
- Another route leads to Azamgarh.
Phariha has its own railway station, Phariha Railway Station[2], which is part of the North Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways. It falls under the Varanasi railway division and is located on the Mau-Shahganj line. The Phariha Railway Station is a vital point on this railway line.
Notable residents
editPhariha is the home of the Islamic scholar Hamiduddin Farahi, known for his contributions to Quranic studies and exegesis[3]. It is also the maternal home of Islamic scholar and historian, Shibli Nomani.[4][5]
