Pierre Louis Alexandre (French: [pjɛʁ lwi a.lɛk.sɑ̃dʁ], 19 November 1843, Cayenne, French Guiana — 29 April 1905, Stockholm, Sweden) was a French docker in Sweden. Alexandre went down in history as an art model at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts from 1878 to 1903, making him probably the most represented black model of the 19th century.
Life
editProbably born Pierre Louie Alexandre, during his Swedish life, he also called himself (Peder/Pierre) Louis Pettersson or Alexandersson. He was very often known by the nickname Negern Pettersson ("Pettersson the Negro") ou Svarte Peder ("Black Peter").
